Late applying for paternity leave

So frustratingly I've been nagging my husband for ages to sort with his employees to sort maternity leave. I knew there was likely a deadline and I told him to get it sorted but he hasn't and I'm now 28 weeks, I've just googled it and it says you need to apply 15 weeks before baby is due so I'm now panicking that it could be denied.

Does anyone know where we stand with this and if they could deny him leave?

He is a teacher so it's not as simple as just take annual leave if not. It's not the money I'm bothered about either, it's him having the physical time off. I'll be having a Caesarian and I know I will need the support!

Any experience with this would be appreciated!

Just to note - his employers try to worm out of anything possible, so even though he's a highly valued member of staff - if they can get out of letting him have time off, believe me they will do! Especially because they 'need' him there!

Thanks

Hmm.. I thought the 15 week rule was for maternity leave 🤔 my partner & I work for the same company and our paternity policy states you must let your manager know the expected week of birth & then you submit a form when baby is born to confirm dates..

I think he needs to check his works policy, it’ll be quite clear in there. If they state 15 weeks prior, they unfortunately have every right to refuse to pay him or give him the time.. the law states he must have given the correct notice..

Get him to check & get on it ASAP! I really hope they are kind to him on this occasion!

It's also 15 weeks beforehand for paternity leave/pay. He'll just need to speak to them and see what they say

There's going to be some serious fallout if he doesn't get it. Typical man doesn't see what the problem is Angry
