Hello, I have just found out I am 4 weeks +1 and I am having cramping/aches/sharp pains that feel like awful trapped wind. It is easing and comes and goes throughout the day. I haven’t got any other symptoms apart from extremely tender boobs. I’ve read that it’s progesterone slowing your bowels down and I have IBS however it’s my first prEgnancy after fertility treatment so just wanting to make sure all is ok.

Thanks in advance
Becky

I'm 7 weeks today and have had awful IBS flare ups since 4 weeks. Cramps, stabbing pains, consipation, the works! Mine is worse in the morning.

Becky2889 · 04/12/2019 20:18

Have you found anything that helps? X

Hello!
I had this terribly between 4-6 weeks. I have IBS too and I remember being in tears some days. The bloating was absolutely insane as well. Good news for me (and hopefully for you!) - it did pass! I drank prune juice until the sickness kicked in and I couldn't tolerate it anymore.
I'm now 37 weeks and actually have had a pretty smooth ride IBS wise which has surprised me.
I hope it passes soon. Good luck!

Thankyou for getting back to me. That sounds like a good idea I might try that. When it’s all so new you worry what it might be and if it’s something worse or not. So thankyou x

@Becky2889
It is so stressful when it's all so new. As I said, hopefully it will settle somewhat. Your hormones are just going absolutely mental!
If it doesn't get better then speak to your GP about mediations you can take. I don't know if you normally take medicines but that's another thing you have to contend with - not being able to take whatever you want!

I’m 6+4 and have also had terrible bloating and constipation. When the pain started waking me at night and became so severe I was breaking out in a sweat and vomiting I was seen in EPAU - turns out I’d haemorrhaged into my corpus luteum and that had then ruptured so I had blood in my belly that was causing the pain!
Very unpleasant, but not harming the baby who is happily implanted in my womb.

Bowel trouble is very common in the first trimester - take fybogel to avoid constipation, walk at least 40 mins a day and try yoga. I feel for you, not a symptom of pregnancy I was expecting!

Early weeks can throw your body into chaos.
I found peppermint tea, about 20 mins after my main evening meal really helped. It was not a taste I liked initially and I realised I preferred to let tea cool to lukewarm but it definitely helped me.
Like others say, up your fluid intake over the day and ensure you get exercise, yoga is great but even a walk around the block helps.
Good luck, it will become a distant memory soon.

Thankyou for replying I think because it’s pain in that area and all so new then it’s scary isn’t it.

Im an IBS sufferer too.
I can recommend the peppermint tea and try and have a controlled diet ie not too much fibre/gas inducing foods.
I’m at the end of my pregnancy now and It’s difficult when bubs grows but just control your diet as much as you can (I have medication controlled IBS) so depends how bad you have it. Good luck x

Another IBS type here. From about 6 weeks I was so bloated and windy and gripey! I panicked because I couldn't fit into any of my jeans - I didn't even want to get dressed it was so uncomfortable and even considered going out and getting maternity jeans ridiculously early because I already looked pregnant (major bloats)

Last couple of weeks though, it has got so much better. 13+5 now, stomachs gone right down, dont need the jeans just yet, much more comfortable - there is hope!

It'll settle eventually - beware of constipation though! Take steps!

@Becky2889

Hey...I'm 18 weeks now but had the worst wind early on.. I was doubled over in pain at work with it...it was awful!!

Try to avoid tight waistbands..that definitely helped with me.. I used to put my tights under my windy bloated belly and noticed an instant improvement. Peppermint tea helped and avoiding anything that would make me bloat usually (bread mainly).

I feel like I could have written your post 10 weeks ago OP!
Hang in there.... I found going to the toilet sometimes helped, as well as a nice warm bath.
15+1 now, and its completely stopped. It lasted a couple of weeks x
