Hi ladies,

I've had three missed miscarriages (all chromosomally normal, lost at 7 weeks) and am now in early pregnancy with attempt number 4. Doctors cannot figure out why.

Anyone have a similar experience? Anyone with any success stories for reassurance? Xxx

Hi Op,

So sorry to hear this. I know how hard it is.

I've had 3 miscarriages last year and early this year (1 of which was a missed miscarriage and resulted in a D&C operation). I'm now 35 weeks pregnant.

I hope things work out for you.

TreesSandSea · 02/12/2019 23:21

I lost five pregnancies over 7 years including one of twins, all stopped growing before 11 weeks. Then went on to have three healthy children.
The very best of luck to you xxx

FunkyWiseWords · 02/12/2019 23:29

Thank you...

Wow! Did you do anything differently, ladies? Did you change anything @kittycat01 and @TreesSandSea? Xx

I had immune treatment. Had it at Mr Gorgy’s clinic in Wimpole street. That was my twins. Then 5 years later had a surprise to find I was pregnant again, successful pregnancy that time with no treatment at all Smile

kittycat01 · 02/12/2019 23:34

No didn't change anything at all. I've been super paranoid this whole pregnancy though and didn't even announce my pregnancy to anyone until I was around 16 weeks due to worry of losing another.

Good luck to you.

Eh1112 · 02/12/2019 23:37

I'm sorry you're going through such a rough time. Six consecutive losses here in four years at around 8 weeks. This was followed by two healthy pregnancies. The only difference was taking Prednisolone up to 15 weeks (in addition to Cyclogest, Clexane and baby aspirin). I was under the care of Dr Gorgy at The London Fertility Academy as the NHS could only advise me to keep trying as eventually we would get there Hmm. I really hope things work out for you.

INeedNewShoes · 02/12/2019 23:41

I had 3 early losses (6 weeks, 11 weeks, 5 weeks).

I turned out to have very weakly positive blood indicators for antiphospholopid syndrome which is a clotting issue.

Next pregnancy I took low dose aspirin from BFP and was on heparin by 5 weeks. Who knows whether it was this that made the difference but that 4th pregnancy did make it.

Sorry you're going through this Flowers

Thestrangestthing · 02/12/2019 23:43

My mum had 4 miscarriages and an ectopic after having me, she had completely given up, didn't bother to go back on to contraception as she didn't think it would ever happen and if it did she would be happy. About a year later she was pregnant with my brother, had a completely normal pregnancy and healthy baby at the end.
Good luck op.

Postmissposte · 02/12/2019 23:48

Sorry to hear you've been through such a tough time. I got lucky 4th time round and now have 3 children, with 3 miscarriages, an ectopic and a molar pregnancy along the way! I took low dose aspirin in all my successful pregnancies, our consultant said it wouldn't hurt even though nothing came up on the tests.
I hope this time goes perfectly for you.

frazzledasarock · 02/12/2019 23:49

I’m so sorry for your losses.

I had four. Was slowly losing my mind and terrified of having scans. The last miscarriage was a MMC discovered at ten weeks but baby had died at eight weeks. I was devastated.

I have had two healthy pregnancies subsequently. My consultants tend to put me on progesterone pessaries as soon as I find out I’m pregnant. I’m also prescribed high dose folic acid and low dose aspirin (altho there were no blood clotting problems discovered during tests), and I get scanned every two weeks from six weeks up till ten weeks to monitor progress.

Aneley · 03/12/2019 03:10

I had four. 3 MCs at 6/7w. 1 MMC after an IVF at 8w.
Currently 38w pregnant, spontaneous conception out of nowhere - I took only Vit D and nothing else when this conception happened.

FunkyWiseWords · 03/12/2019 22:34

Thank you so much, ladies. My husband and I read each message together and were left thinking how strong and wonderful you all are.

DS is pregnancy no.4 of 7. One ectopic lost a tube, all the rest were MMC no explanation, just bad luck, but I couldn't do it again after no. 7.

Addsverisimilitude · 03/12/2019 22:42

Yes.
12 weeks.
8.5 weeks.
5 weeks.
Then two successful pregnancies.
I was referred after the 3rd but was pregnant before I was seen and had no investigations etc.

AnneLovesGilbert · 03/12/2019 22:42

Wishing you every luck for a healthy uneventful pregnancy OP.

My experience was very similar to Eh1112, 5 losses before DD and the same meds but I was lucky with a fantastic recurrent miscarriage clinic and consultant on the NHS.

Miscarriages can feel like your heart is being torn out of your chest, frustrating, lonely, hopeless, helpless and so so fucking painful. To not know the reason - I never did, my consultant just threw increasing varieties and quantities of drugs at me till something worked - is cruel and awful and my heart goes out to you and your husband. May this pregnancy give you your rainbow baby Flowers

RippleEffects · 03/12/2019 22:49

I had two full term pregnancies (boys now 16 and 13) followed by three misscariages and then a chemical pregnancy. Conceived again imediately after the chemical pregnancy with anaemia and feeling completely drained. That pregnancy resulted in a healthy baby girl now 8.

We didn't go down the investigation route but I did feel like giving up and very low. My pregnancy with DD was fairly uneventful but I found it hard to enjoy and hard to fully accept it was really happening. Then had all the complex emotions of feeling guilty that I couldn't relax into it and was somehow prerejecting DD. I found it quite hard when people congratulated me on the pregnancy.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 03/12/2019 22:49

Another success here.
3 x miscarriages before 12 weeks. All tests normal.

4th pregnancy was twins, but I lost one very early one - and thought I was having m/c number 4. Instead, DD is now 18 and at uni.

3 years later, no problems at all to conceive DD2, who is now 15.

We did nothing different as there were no reasons they could find to explain our losses.

Good luck going forward.

imfreeezing · 03/12/2019 22:50

Me!!
My mother had 4 MC's over 6 years (I think) before me and my brother Smile
All the best, OP

Willow4987 · 03/12/2019 22:52

My aunt had several miscarriages before It was discovered to be something to do with the hormone needed to retain a pregnancy not kicking in, so she was given this and then had 2 successful pregnancies

pinkcardi · 03/12/2019 22:56

Friend of mine had 5 losses, and discovered her thyroid wasn't at normal levels. Normal for NHS but abnormal for other countries (ie they'd have treated with her results)

So she sought private treatment and now has two healthy DC

DilysMoon · 03/12/2019 23:01

I had 3 mc within a year, 5w, 6w and a mmc at 12w. It was a horrendous time. I was referred and had bloods and advised to take low dose aspirin as soon as I next found out I was pregnant and throughout the pregnancy. Had 3 successful pregnancies after that and no more mc, took aspirin throughout all of them. I was also scanned weekly until 12 weeks and the peace of mind that brought was a big help.

Good luck to you OP, its hard to believe but there is a lot to be hopeful about. As my Consultant said, you know you can get pregnant, that's the hardest part. You'll get there, lots of good wishes to you Flowers

Ohyesiam · 03/12/2019 23:05

My god son. He arrives 7 years after his big brother, and 3 miscarriages.
He is almost 5 and very lovely.

Sorry you’ve been through all this op x

HarrietM87 · 03/12/2019 23:11

3 mcs, all early - 2 natural at 6ish weeks, then a mmc discovered at 7 weeks. Had prednisolone and had my son. Accidental pregnancy this summer, started the pred again once I realised at 5 weeks but was too late - another mmc. So at least I know that I need the pred to sustain a pregnancy. It’s soul destroying OP - hang on in there.

DustyMaiden · 03/12/2019 23:16

2 DDs 11 MC 1 SB no reason found then DS.

I have a B12 deficiency think it might be related.

Graphista · 04/12/2019 00:07

1st mc complete no intervention needed.

2nd mc complex, d&c then they discovered another embryo ectopic and I had surgery for that too.

At that point I got a dx of endo, yet more surgery plus medical management.

But even with the endo dx I decided to do some research of my own. Off the back of that research I chose to quit caffeine, alcohol and avoid as many food additives as possible and stopped high impact exercise as soon as I was ttc again.

I'll be accused of scaremongering probably, have been before, but I wasn't taking any chances. I can't know if that was what worked or if it was the endo treatment or a combination, or not, but the next pregnancy was successful and I got dd.

Unfortunately separate medical issues meant I couldn't have any more children.

It's incredibly tough going through mc, I have a relative and a few friends who had way worse times than me and never found out why, probably unknown genetic issues.

Although one of those it was anti phospholipid syndrome and I was appalled that she wasn't dx until she emigrated to a supposedly less developed country where they dx and treated it quickly and easily and she then had her lovely children.

I found the mc association very supportive and informative as was the endometriosis Uk.

I wish you so much luck in having a successful pregnancy Thanks
