Back to back baby

Hi all, I'm coming up to 38 weeks and have been told by a midwife that the baby's head is engaged. Just wondering how do you tell if the baby is back to back? I read there's a higher chance if you have an anterior placenta which I do, and also if the baby has sat very high the whole pregnancy. A friend who used to be a midwife also said if all the movements feel like they are at the front then its likely the baby is back to back. Does anyone have any experience of this and do you have any tips on how to encourage the baby to turn around? Thanks!

There's not really a hard and fast way to tell, plus they move all of the time so no guarantees. Dd1 was the right way round at my sweep but b2b by the time she was born. Look at the spinning babies website for movement tips

It’s possible the midwife can tell. I paid for a late scan (39 weeks) to check, but it’s possible (although unlikely) baby could’ve moved after that anyway. I wanted to check as my first labour was back to back and very very tough.

As it happened at my 38 week appointment my midwife told me baby was back to back. I did all the bouncing and baby moved herself, confirmed by the late scan

like a previous poster my DD was facing the usual way but changed position during labour and ended up being delivered back-to-back, so Im not sure that even if your baby is currently back-to-back that it necessarily means they will be in that position when they are born.
