Movements changed at 32 wks

Like all the best mumsnet questions, this starts the same way: Is it normal... for how baby's movements feel to change as baby grows? I'm now 32 weeks and while I'm sure there are enough movements, they feel very different to how they did a week or so ago. Much gentler kicks, and more rolling sensations? Is this just because there's getting to be less room in there?

I’m currently 39 weeks and that has certainly been true for me too so hopefully someone else with more experience will be able to tell us!

The advice these days is to call the maternity unit if you notice any change in movements. They will advise whether you need to be checked. Call them now. You are not wasting their time. It's always best to speak to someone with knowledge in these situations.

OP I could have posted this myself!

Also 32 weeks and feel the same. The movements have become more like waves rather than kicks. Definitely more gentle but still moving.

Will be watching this with interest.

31+4 and I’m the exact same!

Please call the maternity unit for advice if you notice any change in your baby's movements

No matter how far along you are, it is not because of less room. This is a myth

Any change in movements need investigating asap

RandomMess · 30/11/2019 23:40

Just to let you know:

Babies do not "run out of room"

Babies movements do not slow down at the end.

Official guidance is that a change in movements should be investigated.

I guess you do feel them turning and moving more as they grow you should be feeling proper "kick" moves though.

Any concerns phone the midwives and go on for monitoring.

Hi all,

Just to say that I went in for monitoring yesterday and, of course, everything was fine. It did help set my mind at rest though, and the midwives were very accommodating and didn't seem to think it was any 'bother' at all.

Thanks everyone.

Glad to hear all was fine x

I almost posted about this yesterday but kept getting an error and gave up!

I went to the ANDU a few weeks ago for changed movements and the midwives did tell me the movements will change, but the frequency shouldn't as the baby takes up more space so it will move back to more rolls and swishes rather than kicks.

www.babycentre.co.uk/a25015145/how-will-my-babys-movements-feel-week-by-week I sent this to my DH to explain it to him

That's great news OP Smile
