Stomach aches constantly throughout pregnancy - help?

Hey everyone.

I'm 19+3 today and I'm getting concerned because most days I will end up having bad stomach aches. They will only last for around 5 - 10 minutes and then go away. If I have been cleaning, or lifting anything, for example I moved house the other day, I will get a really strong stomach ache in the center of my abdomen. Other times I get it lower down, and the past few days I have had it under my ribs. I don't have GD or preclampsia.

I have had two major and one minor bowel surgeries in the past: appendix removed by keyhole, open surgery for a colectomy to remove my large intestine and give me a stoma, and then open surgery again to reattach my small intestine to my rectum to allow me to go to the toilet 'normally' again. I have had numerous private scans (Window To The Womb, so diagnostic) and baby is doing fine. I have not had any bleeding but do have clear discharge quite frequently.

I will be seeing a consultant eventually but as I have just moved I'm sort of starting from the bottom again, only just managed to secure a 20 week scan and I've been referred to a specialist midwife as I am considered high risk and will be needing a C-Section.

But these constant stomach aches have me worried. This is my first baby and I'm only 24. Anyone?

Also to add I haven't really felt any baby kicks, occasional flutters, because I have an anterior placenta.

@lostandconfused2 I have had the same throughout my pregnancy I am 35 weeks and have been having painful aches in my lower abdomen since about 2 months ago, been doctors and seen consultants at my hospital and have been told it's just muscle and ligament pain and not much can be done as it's just a natural cause and your uterus is stretching (also my first baby) ... I was given a few boxes of co dydramol but it rarely makes a difference I find the only thing that soothes mine is a hot water bottle! It will all be worth it in the end 😘 good luck x

Hi @lostandconfused2 congrats on your pregnancy. I’m only 5+5 but have also been having pretty constant stomach pains - I think mine are constipation, bloating and trapped wind. Glamorous!

Pains and cramps are normal during pregnancy due to ligament stretching, but of course you’ll need to be a little more vigilant because of your surgical history - not because your baby is more at risk but because your bowels are more likely to play up! Make sure you don’t get constipated and try peppermint tea. YouTube yoga has helped my pains. If your stoma function changes, let your GP know. I’m sure it’s all fine and normal pregnancy cramps!
