Worth getting a newborn bouncer/swing?

Hey everyone

I'm currently due to pop anytime soon and I've not thought it's worth getting a bouncer/swing for my baby when she arrives, but now I'm not sure - ftm so I don't know if they're worth the money?

Does anyone have any experience with bouncers/swings for newborns and has any honest feedback? Both good and bad. I'm interested Smile

Cheers! Bear

This thread is quite old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’re looking for bouncers and swings, we’ve recently updated our best baby bouncer page with lots of great options tried and tested by MNHQ and real parents. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

I had a cheap bouncy chair from Argos. My son wouldn’t nap in it but it was great to sit him in while I had a shower or made food as he could see me and play with the toys on it.

Another vote for the BabyBjorn bouncer-all three DC used it, until they were almost 2 (for the last year it usually lived in the bathroom so they could be safely contained whilst I was in the shower). Folds completely flat aswell so easy to fling in the boot.

In a baby show induced bout of excess, DH and I bought a Nuna Leaf, and so far it's been an absolute waste of money. DD will only sleep on me during the day, so that was the main reason we bought it out the window. It doesn't come with a toy arch (getting it for Christmas though), so there's nothing to distract her when she's awake (except the TV). It's also extremely heavy and bulky as well, so I can't move it around the house with me, and it's taking up a decent amount of space in my tiny living room. The only positive point is that since it's designed so big, she can use it for years down the line as a swinging reading chair. In reality though I wish I had never bought the blighted thing.

We also have a second hand fisher price woodsy friends which we got for free. DH plonks her in that and she seems perfectly happy.
