When to get anti-D?

Hi all

I have quite bad anxiety and am 39 weeks pregnant at the moment, also Rh negative.

I had my anti-D injection earlier in the pregnancy and had a top up the other week or so because I felt I needed it.

I asked when to go in etc. for them and didn't feel I got a straight answer.

For example - I walked into a door frame but only quite lightly, twice this evening. It did cause me to become slightly breathless but I think that's because baby's bum was right where I contacted and it squished me a bit. It wasn't a hard bump!

Now I'm worried - should I go in for an anti-D top up? Or is it my health anxiety playing up? Partner thinks I'll be fine but I'm not sure. I feel like a right idiot as I only recently became so worried about it.

Any advice much appreciated Thanks

Obviously I'll take any with a pinch of salt and probably ring anyway but I'm just wondering if anyone has a better idea than me/has been through this kind of thing.

Ps baby seems to be moving okay, I'm getting the odd twinge but tbh that's been quite a regular occurrence at the moment anyway!

You won’t need it for a bump on a doorframe. Baby is well cushioned.

Any bump would have to be enough for a doctor to be concerned about internal bleeding/the risk of the two bloods crossing. The only time I had a top up was after a car crash!

Just to add any external bleeding will probably require one as a precaution too but small bumps/knocks are fine Smile

Thank you Little!

I did think this at first but when I had a bit of a panic they seemed to not want to give me a straight answer (which I can see why but for someone like me - I can't always take it rationally!) haha

Thanks again Thanks

Little - Also I'm very sorry to hear you were in a car crash! Sad

I didn’t really get a straight answer the first time and then had a nice straight talking midwife 😄 if they thought you needed it, they’d be wasting no time sticking the needle in!

Good luck for the last bit of your pregnancy Smile

Thank you Smile

I haven't rang in this time - might do in the morning if I feel I need to but I'm thinking it's probably not worth it!
