Please tell me I'm not going crazy and seeing things!

Had lots of flashing lights shooting around my eyes earlier. Is this a sign of being a little bit weak / faint??

Can someone reasure me that I am not going crazy xx

think its a sign of blood pressure being slightly low (not 100% sure tho)

sunnyshine · 21/08/2007 11:00

can be a sign of pre ecl;ampsia but not sure if it starts this early. i would call docs and get your bp checked and take a sampe too! best to be on the safe side

LIZS · 21/08/2007 11:02

high/low blood presure or low sugar levels. Try nibbling a biscuit and sitting down for a while.

Just having a cup of sweet tea and a cookie!

Cazzy, I had flashing lights too (although I was more like 30 weeks pg at the time).

Have you ever suffered from migraines?

If it comes back then I would call your midwife or doctor asap.

spanna07 · 21/08/2007 13:06

I get this when I shave my armpits! This happened during my last pg too and at that time, they were checking me daily as I had very high bp- but not pre-eclampsia. The Dr said then that it's just from straining/ concentrating and then moving suddenly. Wouldn't worry- I am also 18 weeks and getting it this time too.

NAB3 · 21/08/2007 13:09

I would suggest you get it checked my a midwife. It can be a sign of pre-eclampsia.

Mercy · 21/08/2007 13:14

Forgot to say in my post that I was diagnosed with border-line pre-eclampsia.

The only symptoms I had were the flashing lights (similar to a migraine but with no headache) and raised BP.

PE can start at around 20 weeks.

As I said earlier (and others), best get it checked asap if it happens again.

Hi Crazzybaby, I had this on sunday and started a thread about it. Ring your MW or contact you ADU as it is a sign of pre eclampsia, it can come on really sudden. So please call your MW and get this checked out.

I hope everything goes well and let us know how you get on.

Cazzybaby · 21/08/2007 13:18

Iam only 18 weeks is it not a bit too soon for it to be pre eclampsia??

Hi crazzy, I dont now how early Pre eclampsia can come on, but tbh I would ring and at least speak to your MW to see what she says. They may want you to go in just to be checked out. I would just to be on the safe side.

bubblepop · 21/08/2007 13:36

hiya i would say this is prob a sign of pre eclampsia, agree with others, do not ignore, get it checked.

GoodGollyMissMolly · 21/08/2007 14:23

Just checking back in, I hope everything is OK Crazzybaby.

xx

GoodGollyMissMolly · 21/08/2007 16:01

Glad your feeling better now Crazzybaby, but keep and eye on it and if it starts again I would ring your MW.

I can relate to you re the thrush, it seems never blardy ending!!!!

scorpio1 · 21/08/2007 16:02

CB-ask if you can use natural yog instead of canesten...maybe gentler?

Eaglebird · 21/08/2007 17:20

Before becoming pg, I used to have ocasional migraines with flashing lights & headache, usually triggered by stress or dehydration.
Since first becoming pg, I still ocasionally get flashing lights, but weirdly no headache. I mentioned it to my midwife first time I saw her, and she says it's quite common for migraine sufferers to get more migraines when pg, and not to worry. I've found that making sure I drink lots of water seems to keep mine at bay.
However, if the flashing lights are something you've never had before you were pg, than I'd definitely see your midwife or GP just to be on the safe side.
