So I'm going to drink this stuff even though there is little scientific evidence it works. I'd sprinkle magic fairy dust too.

I'm 37+4 weeks so can't do too much harm. I think it just helps with contractions anyway?

Anyone have any positive/neutral/negative experiences?

I bought a loose leaf from my local tea shop and it looks vile.

Midwife said you need to start at 32 weeks to do any good, not sure what difference it made tbh. I did that and the 6 dates a day.

gumdrop2 · 25/11/2019 08:42

I've used it for both of mine it probably won't work now you need to use it from 32 weeks having 4 cups a day both my labours were quick and I didn't have any tears or grazes, I'm using it again now I'm 34 weeks but the taste is vile it's like sour raspberries Envy

I drank it in my first pregnancy, starting one cup a day and increasing to 3 cups plus capsules near the end. I did go overdue, but had a much shorter first labour than a lot of my friends. I'm drinking it again this time round. Just hit 37 weeks so I've upped the amount of cups per day. I use teabags though.

Oh dear. I knew I was meant to stay a bit earlier... Totally forgot until now though. I'm having a whole pot of it. Yuck. Oh well well see. Blergh.

It's so vile I've been using my DDs little mug and letting the tea bag stew for as long as possible so it's more like a shot for me Grin

I drank it by the bucket load and had to be induced after 11 days. I think I would do.it again tho as they said the cervix was ripe from the due date and I think that's a good thing!

Blergh not sure i can drink this crap every day lol.

Wonder if a drop of honey improve it

I don't know if it helps much with contractions but I remember it claims helps to prepare uterus and perineum for birth, helps everything be more elastic.

I used it for all my pregnancies, I have not got a clue if it works but it's one of those things I could do without causing harm.

Namechangeymcnamechange11 · 25/11/2019 12:41

Did nothing to help move things along for me. Drank it from 32 weeks as recommended. Loved the taste though, so not a hardship for me.

OlderthenYoungerNow · 25/11/2019 12:46

It's suppose to decrease labour time as it strengthens the uterine walls, it's not going to help with tearing or getting labour started.

I drank it in my first pregnancy. Established labour was about 10 hours in total. Hard to know whether it helped, but it was the long labours that you hear about!

gamerchick · 25/11/2019 12:48

It's supposed to give a shorter pushing stage.

I did get they with my last labour but he was my third so no idea if it was the tea or not.

It's the reason that any of this shit is so hard to work out whether it's done anything without a large comprehensive study of 1000s of people and why people still think eating a bit of pineapple at 42 weeks meant they finally went into labour 🤷‍♂️
