Pre-eclampsia

I'm at risk of pre-eclampsia and I am consultant led in this pregnancy.

For a day and a half now I have had a pain in my right ribs that doesn't subside with any amount of stretching, warm bath or position changing. I would describe it as a strong and constant stab.

Baby is moving fine, nowhere near the pain side.

I was told to take paracetamol and rest by the midwife unit. Something I have been doing since the pain started but they said to keep doing it and said not to come down as they'd just give me more pain relief.

Has anyone experienced this and it was pre-eclampsia?

You need to go back to the hospital they're not taking you seriously. When I was pregnant I had a pain in my arm and the doctor sent me to the hospital straight away because he thought I had PE and I wasn't at risk.

@birdling should I go back despite seeing her today and the bloods being taken?

Yes, because you've had more worrying symptoms. Things can change rapidly with pre eclampsia. I was in hospital for 7 weeks, even though I felt ok. They wouldn't let me out for longer than 4 hours in case anything changed.

As PP have said, that doesn't sound good and it can go downhill very quickly. When I went in, they initially said they might have to induce me in the next couple of weeks. Less than 24 hours later they were sending platelets for me on blue lights from the nearest large city and I was taken into theatre for the EMCS immediately after.

Really hope everything is ok Flowers

Glad your midwife took your bloods. Can't believe triage/MAU didn't. I assume they at least did a urine dip and checked your BP. Hope they come back fine tomorrow.

As with a PP I had zero symptoms apart from the BP and urine. Once the bloods confirmed it, I was admitted and was advised not to go too far. While in, I was forever asked if I had any right sided epigastric pain, headaches or visual disturbances, and you have had all them!

The nearly blacking out on the road is seriously worrying and dangerous. If possible for you, please get someone (partner/family/friend/neighbour) to get you to the hospital, or take a taxi when you next need to go.

And never feel like you're a burden. This is exactly what MAU is there for.

@Dyra yes they did the urine dip test which was ok and I had the onset of high blood pressure but that was it. I was surprised they put the pain down to a muscle strain, I don't think they took my other symptoms seriously.

I was driving alone yesterday as my DP was in a meeting and couldn't get out but generally he comes to every appointment. I certainly won't be driving feeling like that again!

I've woken up feeling a bit more alert today which is good and I will just pray my bloods come back ok. I'm only 28 weeks - I can't have this baby yet!
