Hey ladies, please give me your list (or just the top items) to buy in advance for packing my hospital bags.

I'm only 24w now but starting to think about buying bits and bobs to start gathering what I need so it's not all at once!

Thanks in advance x

For you -
Maternity pads // nipple pads
Big knickers
Pj's ( I usually take a nightie & pair of pj's)
Slippers if you want
Underwear(ie socks etc)
Hair brush/bobbles
Travel shower stuff
(check with hospital if they provide towels usually they do but if not a you will need a towel)

For baby -
Baby grows // Vests I usually just have 0-3
Mittens
Coming home outfit
Blankets ( I'd take 2 just incase of any poo explosions or anything) this happened to me with my 2nd lol. Don't have to be thick ones.
Nappies // Wipes
Dummy if you want
A hat or two (optional)
Check sck with midwife most provide milk that's if your not breastfeeding

Of the top of my head I can't think of anything else. Hope this helps x

Thank you both! That's a great start and help to me. It's my first baby so I'm just trying to get myself prepared x

I'd recommend some snacks/ drinks, long life orange juice cartons, for a bit of sugar and maybe some malt loaf, or oatcakes? Mars bar might hit the spot, obviously take duplicates to feed birth partner, as my dh declared what a hard time he'd had waiting for ds1 to be born, he was starving hungry, he failed to mention I might be a bit tired and hungry too after a day and a half in labour.

There's some really good lists online of what you and baby will need if you put it into Google-i went by these for the basics

But also-
Treat yourself to some nice fresh pj's for afterwards - it will be so worth it and I wish i did!
I had a pack of lucozade sport bottles and they did me wonders!
Lots of maternity pads, you'll need them
I unexpectedly had to stay in for over 2 days so keep that in mind and maybe pack a very small bag with over flow supplies for you and baby and keep by the front door so maybe partner or family member can pick up with ease if you need it. (I had to try and explain to partner where extra things were at home for me and baby and it was a bit of a nightmare as we were both so tired)
Good luck!

P. S
I had 'spritz for bits' by 'expert midwife' and a few sprays on a maternity pad relieved a lot of soreness afterwards

Ah yes we had a longer stay than expected so ran out of baby clothes. So second having a back up bag packed at home - DH had to keep dropping off dirties and coming back with spares.

I also kept my hospital bag in the corner at home and just chucked stuff in as I bought it. Unscented Toilet wipes rather than toilet tissue were good.

Personally I did take some make up for when I had visitors which helped put a bit of colour back in my cheeks!

Food for DH- mine was starving as he had to look after the baby while I was having various procedures done for hours and nobody looked out for him at all of course.
