Hello!
I'm currently doing a masters with the British Psychotherapy Foundation and Birkbeck University called Psychodynamics of Human Development. One of the components of the course is Infant Observation, which is an approach to training to becoming a child and adolescent psychotherapist. This has been an essential part of pre-clinical training since the 1940s, and continues to provide an enriching and essential experience for those training to become psychotherapists.
I am hoping to find a family living in London that would like to take part! :) It would involve an allocated hour weekly visit to your home to observe your baby (with yourself, dad, family, friends, or guests). The purpose of this is to follow the gradual development of your baby up to 2 years old, and to understand how babies make relationships, and how their thinking and minds develop.
All details of the observation are kept strictly confidential, and there will be nothing published. Written materials and discussions with colleagues will be anonymous, and not contain any identifiable details of your family.
If you currently have a newborn up to 10 weeks old, or will be expecting a baby by January, and you're interested... please contact me! I would be happy to answer any other questions, and will of course meet in person first. :)
I have a clean DBS (and am on the online updated service) which I can show you, and I also have a letter from my university explaining this further. I'm a 28 year old female, and I am an Assistant Psychologist working with adult women with eating disorders in a hospital setting.
