Talking to work

Hi everyone,
I'm currently 34+6 with my first baby and on my last week of work before mat leave. To be honest I wish I had taken it at the end of last week as I struggle to get up (have to get up at half 5 to get there on time) and I'm on my feet for the time I'm there.
Unfortunately I've had quite a lot of time off during my pregnancy- mostly due to hyperemesis which only went away at about 26 weeks.
This week I had Monday off because I was exhausted and hadn't slept. I felt really guilty and said yesterday that I would not have any more time off.
And then this morning I'd put my uniform on and was getting ready when I sneezed and unfortunately lost bladder control. I only had the one pair of maternity trousers clean and they were obviously not okay to wear out then! And not to mention I'm very worried about it happening at work.
I got rather upset because I always thought the 'peezing' thing wasn't going to happen to me! My partner phoned in for me to say I wouldn't be in but he was purposely vague about why. He said to me I could just make something up but I'm a terrible liar!
So now I'm faced with going back tomorrow and talking to any one of my (male) supervisors about it.
Should I just be honest? Should i make something up? And can i get a handhold about being upset about having an 'accident' in late pregnancy! Blush

Hi, I think honesty is easiest. Just tell them what happened. If you start telling lies, I think its often easy to tell and that wont build any good will. Plus you still have a few days in the office and realistically it could happen again.

You really don't need to be embarrassed though, seriously if they manage a team I am sure they will have heard it all before.

Only two days left of work, just focus on that!

Yeah I agree, just be honest, if it's easier for you.
Unless you feel really uncomfortable about it and think they'll make fun of you / talk behind your back? It'd be super immature though. Could you just say you were not feeling well due to pregnancy (which is true)?

How about you wear pads for ease of mind? There are some specifically for incontinence, if you don't want to go down the maternity pad route yet... and if you're having a vaginal birth, prepare yourself for many more of those incidents post birth!

I suppose pelvic floor exercises will help as well.

Thank you for the responses - I think I will just be honest - as my partner says I've only got two more days then I wont see any of them for quite some time!
I just felt like a right idiot for being caught out with no spare trousers to wear, and it's pretty embarrassing in the first place.
I'll just have to wear pads and hope for the best over the next two days.
