Pain after pulmonary embolism - baby kicking scar tissue?

A qualifier for most niche topic on Mumsnet - not really expecting any replies but you never know...

I was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism about a month ago and am on Clexane and aspirin. It’s been OK but last week the chest pain started getting worse - I mentioned this to my midwife and she advised me to get it checked out, so the maternity unit saw me last week but were happy with my ECG etc so said to go home and keep an eye on it. Today it’s worse than ever, I’m in a lot of pain. My hypothesis is that as baby grows she’s kicking near the damaged tissue on my lung and that’s causing the pain, though I tried to suggest this to a doctor at hospital and she cut me off and said it’s nothing to do with baby.

Appreciate it’s unlikely, but anyone experienced similar? Anything I can do?

I would go back to hospital if I were you. A PE is life threatening and I wouldn’t be taking any chances, especially as the pain is getting worse. For what it’s worth, I had a DVT and PE too, and was on Clexane.

I am a nurse but definately no expert but personally I wouldn't take any risk with a PE. If it seems like its getting worse then I would be seeking further advice.... A&E probably.

Hope your ok

I’ve got home now (posted that on the train in desperation) and laid on my left for a bit and I feel OK now... I do think it must be that baby was too near my scar tissue and now she’s moved from me lying down. I’ll go back to hospital if it gets worse again though, thanks for the replies.

I would strongly advise you to go back to the maternity unit or A&E. It might be nothing to worry about, but as you have worsening chest pain and a recent history of PE, then it needs checking.

Cross posted. I really think it's unlikely to be related to the baby's position. Please at least call 111 for advice.

I agree, it needs looking at!

Thanks everyone. Went back to hospital this morning but all the tests look OK so sending me home again 🤷‍♀️

Glad that you're OK, but it must be frustrating not too know what's causing it!
