Hello. I'm 32+3. I went for a scan today to monitor growth, check placental site, and to check on previously identified mild kidney pelvis dilation.
Things have changed quite a bit since my last scan. Baby is now head down and the placenta has moved away from the cervix. Although the kidney pelvises are still dilated, the dilation is mild, and they're not overly concerned.
The problem now lies with the bowel. It's more prominent than it should be, and as a result, his abdomen is measuring considerably outside of normal range. I have another scan in three weeks where the consultant and the neonatal team will make a decision on what they need to do. It's looking like I'll need a c-section. I'll be 37 weeks on 21st December so they're hoping to wait until just after Christmas. If there is any deterioration though, they may need to get him out sooner.
Baby will need a scan before he leaves the hospital even if he comes on time, and if his abdomen feels hard when he's born they'll need to put a tube down there immediately, apparently.
Has anyone had experience with anything similar? I've attached the scan report for clarity.
I feel that I'm being kept in the dark. During the last scan (five weeks ago) the consultant mentioned the bowel to her colleague but when I questioned it, she said that was nothing was wrong. I have a well documented history of unstable mental health, so I suspect they're just trying not to worry me but it's having the opposite effect.
I've been told to monitor baby's movements and to get in touch with the assessment unit straight away if I have any concerns.
