Altho a non complicated pregnancy as such. We've already had a trace for dipping heartbeat at 28 w
I've been under a lot of stress and worry with other things and tbh hadn't even been giving the pregnancy much thought.

I originally said I'd pack it week before Xmas 35 weeks ish so I know it's done and we have a hectic festive and new year period. Baby due within days of ds birthday

All weekend dh keeps saying he's got a feeling he's gonna come early and he's not fully cooked and that he's worried.. He can't explain why. And keeps saying how my bump looks different to dds at this stage. That I was this size full term. (, I've explained muscles are more relaxed as they are close)
It got my mind going to over drive..
He has said he'd feel more comfortable if
we had everything packed.. Most is purchased except my slippers and pjs which he's asked me to get tomorrow or tell him what I want for him to get and hell go tomorrow night.

Is it a silly. Idea

Think I packed about 32 weeks, mum was trying to "help" me from around the time of my scan, 18 weeks, so I was prepared!

Honestly, I feel like every pregnant woman should have at least their labour and overnight stuff packed by 16 weeks in case they need an overnight stay in hospital. My waters went at 28 weeks and I needed to stay in hospital until I gave birth a few days later - I was without my bags, nothing packed at all. Same happened with DS1 as well, but at 36 weeks.

@winterplease that's adorable! Exactly the sort of thing my DH would do except he'd bring our dog and the kitchen sink too.

peachgreen · 20/11/2019 08:32

@winterplease oh that made me laugh. I can't believe they brought the BATH. Grin I remember being in hospital suddenly as a teen and my dad packed my bag for me - no clean bras but 5 pairs of shoes and matching handbags!

raeray · 20/11/2019 08:42

@winterplease @peachgreen they are both lovely stories!
Misguided but panicked thoughtfulness.
Gave me a real pang for my lovely Dad who died 3 years back.

I had this weird urgent feeling to finish packing my bag one day when I was roughly 36 weeks,
even though it was first baby and everyone kept saying don't worry 'likely to be overdue' etc etc etc

Then i went into labour at 37 weeks so it just goes to show if you're thinking about it then best to get it done as you never know!
Wish I did it alot earlier and will do next time

I got taken in at 30 weeks (although I knew I had complications). It's def more comfortable for you to have something packed but it's not the end of the world if you don't. If you have a premature baby the hospital have everything you need ( any clothes/nappies you have wouldn't fit anyway). The weather drastically changed while I was in hospital so hubby had to have a mad dash for summer mat clothes for me. The other essentials were an expressing machine for me (only for when I got out though, the hospital has these), and a car seat. Your personal stuff can be cobbled together! Best of luck xx

Not at all. I had an uncomplicated pregnancy and was told off at 33 weeks for not having packed mine. I looked at the midwife like she was crazy and ignored her. 5 days later I had a baby. The hospital bag never was packed.

peachgreen · 20/11/2019 09:53

@raeray Ahh I'm sorry you lost your lovely dad. Sounds like he was a gem. Mine is too. And to be fair to him, if my mum was in hospital she WOULD want five pairs of shoes and matching handbags!

BoomyBooms · 20/11/2019 10:31

@raeray I'm too hormonal for this... What a lovely thing for your dad to have done- probably a bit flustered because his DD is in hospital 'whats important to her? Oh yes, shoes and handbags...' Smile

peachgreen · 20/11/2019 11:27

@BoomyBooms I know, bless him. The funniest part is that I didn't even keep them together so he actually spent time matching them up carefully!

BoomyBooms · 20/11/2019 13:26

Oh sorry @peachgreen I tagged the wrong person! It's little things like that that show how loved you are!
