Hi, I'm hoping to breast feed but will do some bottle feeds. What is the best way to steralize bottles? Do I need a steamer or can I steralize them with Milton? Thanks

I found an electric steriliser the easiest. Milton is okay to use but I think the electric one is more convenient. I had a tommee tippee one.

In France and Switzerland (where I live) they don’t sterilise. They wash in hot soapy water and rinse well then air dry.
I had a Dr Browns microwave steriliser from the UK so used it here. It is v handy as doesn’t take up much space. Worked fine for MAM bottles too.

@GrumpyHoonMain presumably also will be updated on the wards too - DS is 12 days old so we were told this just over a week ago 🤷🤦

Oh dear. Lol I was shown the new policy so it definitely exists.

Get mam bottle you self sterilise them in the microwave so simple.

Used the Philips Avent steam steriliser with DS. DD is due in April and will be seeing if it works ok and will be using it again
I bought an Avent steamer for DD ... nearly 30 years ago. I still have it and now use it for sterilising jars for homemade jam etc. You can do the metal lids in the steamer which you can't in the microwave.
It has earned its keep.Smile

Ah, this is interesting, thanks. With my first I was under the impression that I didn’t need to sterilise, but was told differently recently. I assumed the advice had shifted in the opposite direction!

This is good news for though as I’m hoping to start expressing soon for my ds!
