I have just had my second transvaginal scan concerning light to heavy bleeding that I have been suffering with for the last week or so.

My doctor has found the cause to be a blood clot (intrauterine haematoma) beneath the pregnancy. I can't seem to find much accessible infomration online - all seems to be from medical journals etc! Has this happened to anyone else?

Baby was moving around on the scan and the heartbeat was strong but I am really struggling with this "no mans land" of not knowing whether or not everything is going to be ok.

This is my first time here, so hey everyone! Look forward to any help/feedback

Don't have any medical advice but I had blood clot at 5 weeks (picked up by internal scan as I had bleeding). Its just seemed to go away on its own...

Has further bleeding at 12 weeks + 1 but nothing after then.

The first 12 weeks are just so hard, try not to let your mind wander into worst case scenario territiry all the time (like I did!)

Yes I had this and thought I was miscarrying at 7 weeks and had a clot measuring 5cm x 3cm (retrochorionic bleed) and carried on bleeding for 9 weeks. I'm now 23 weeks and it's reduced in size and the baby looked fine at the last scan. I had to take things easy while I was bleeding and rested a lot and have been told that I still could bleed again as it's not completely gone away. I know it's hard not to worry and the lack of information doesn't help either as I too couldn't find anything but the fact they've seen the heartbeat is reassuring. If your EPU didn't tell you too much you can see your GP (mine then phoned the expert at the hospital to get more information for me). Good luck and try not to worry too much and get enough rest too.

Thanks for your help. Seems the only thing I can do is wait which is proving to be hell! Analysing everything and googling like crazy.

I think I heard it called sub-chorionic haemorrhage? I was told it was like a bruise, that its very common in early pregnancy, lots of women have bleeding but only tell you when you've started going hysterical in the loo-in my experience - and sometimes they don't see any reason for bleed on the scan. I really hope everything starts to settle down for you, but try not to read scary stuff and (haha)think about positive stuff? I know, its impossible!!
Fingers crossed,and a big hug **
