Headaches - do they need to be checked out?

I know headaches are a normal part and parcel of pregnancy but I'm not sure at what point they should be a concern?

I have had a headache coming and going since yesterday lunchtime, it's not severe but it's there all the time, sometimes throbbing. It was there during the night.

I am 29 weeks pregnant and on daily aspirin for previous high blood pressure, and weekly blood pressure checks (it was last checked on Friday and was fine).

Is it a case of just knocking back some paracetamol and getting on with it? Not due to see midwife now for two weeks but back at AAU on Friday for blood pressure.

Hmm yeah I think i would get that checked out, especially if you’re already at risk if high blood pressure

Have you had visual disturbances like lights across your vision or sudden swelling of your face, feet or hands? If so then definitely get it checked out but if not maybe call your midwife for some reassurance?

Take care of yourself xx

Hi @MummyBear405 no, my toes were a bit swollen a few days ago but I think that's par for the course. My right eye is a bit blurry today, like when you've got something irritating it but generally, I feel well apart from constant low-level headache and slightly blurry eye making it hard to concentrate on work.

I would definitely get that checked out, especially with the concerns around your blood pressure.

@tisonlymeagain I agree with PP I would definitely get check out asap! I'm in a similar boat on aspirin as I'm more at risk of pre-eclampsia due to my diabetes and I would go in straight away if it were me.

The hospital would much rather see you and confirm it's nothing to worry about than the other way around. Let us know how you get on! xx

Thanks - I'll give my midwife a call. Just don't like wasting anyone's time!
