When should I ring hospital about vomiting and sickness?

I'm 10+4, and since 5 weeks, have had nausea which has worsened every week to this point. Since yesterday I have never felt so horrendous. I started uncontrollably vomiting/wretching at 8pm last night. Went to bed, woke up several times with nausea but managed to not vomit. Then at 8am this morning, vomiting yellow bile. Tried a banana for breakfast but it came back up an hour or so later. I have tried drinking water but it has the same effect. Basically I don't know how long this should go on for before I contact the hospital? I Haven't been able to keep food or liquid down in over 12 hours now and no sign of it getting any better

I would contact the doctor or midwife first, they will then recommend you to the hospital if needed. Take care its not nice 😊

Do you have an EPU at your hospital? If you are not sure or can’t find a number, give your midwife or midwife team a call and see what their advice is in regards to where to go. At a last resort, try 111 who will mostly likely just send you to A&E.

Uncontrollable sickness is def a reason to get to hospital for some help. I have Hyperemesis & I've been in 3 times this pregnancy with dehydration which came on very quickly. The first time, my doctor took one look at me & packed me off to A&E for emergency fluids & anti-sickness ASAP and from there I was admitted to gynae. The second two times, I had a number for the early pregnancy unit who just told me to come straight down.

Hope you can get hold of someone OP & the help you need. It’s really awful. Don’t be afraid to go to A&E if it’s just getting worse & you aren’t sure where to turn!

Thank you everyone. I phoned out of hours and told to go to a+e. God knows how long I'll be waiting here. Can feel the vomit just sitting in the back of my throat so I daren't try to eat or drink anything while I'm waiting.

Can you stomach an ice pole? Or a mini milk type ice cream?

I had what was likely a bug (though at the time it felt like excessive vomiting due to pregnancy) and couldn't keep anything down either, incl. water.

My midwife recommended to stop trying and to have a sip of chamomile tea if I got thirsty. Then if things did not subside within 24 hours, to go to hospital.

Just been assessed and now waiting to be put on a drip and have my bloods taken. Never felt so awful. Was bad with my first 2, but this is another level. Thanks for all your suggestions and advice

So glad you are getting some help @Nic165 - as a veteran to extreme sickness in pregnancy I really advocate people getting some medical help! There’s a certain level it becomes not ‘just’ morning sickness!

The fluids will make you feel so much better! Take care!

I had HG twice, worse with DD1. I went in for fluids a few times and my rule of thumb was if I hadn’t been able to keep down water in 12-18hrs depending how often I was being sick, I would contact my midwife and ask her advice. They always wanted to see me to check the ketones in my urine.

You have my sympathy, it’s hideous.
