Hip pain:(

Feeling a bit sorry for myself. Having really bad hip pains in my right side at the moment. Only after I get up from the sofa (other chairs seem fine) or if I’ve been walking for more than an hour and I end up limping! Obviously will speak to the MW about it but does anyone have any experience and tips in the meantime?

I have this and have been told I have SPD. my midwife referred me to physio and I am now at 36 weeks on crutches as the pain has got progressively worse unfortunately. My physiotherapist advised me to sit on an exercise ball for 15 minutes each day, to keep my legs together when getting out of bed / out of the car etc and to place a pillow between my knees when lying down . I find a microwave wheat bag placed against the hip/back helps too, and obviously resting / avoiding housework etc as much as possible. Hope you feel better soon.

@TeaAndCake30 I fear it will likely be SPD rather just hip pain, mainly cause the walking is difficult! Thanks for the advice i practise this until I get seen Smile

Not sure how it works in different counties, but I self referred to a physio (NHS) and he’s been fab. I’m having sessions every two weeks and it’s very slightly improved, but importantly not getting worse. Hope it goes ok x

Sounds like SPD. If you have a spare double duvet, fold it in half and have it under you to soften what you're sleeping on. A pregnancy pillow between the knees can be good too. A women's physio will be able to tell you what positions to avoid (e g. standing on one leg, crossing a leg underneath you). A pregnancy support girdle may also prove useful to you - be sure to get advice on how to wear it properly and do not wear if sitting for prolonged periods.
