hi. I’m having a pre c section steroid injection tomorrow. What should I expect? A quick jab and away you go or something else? Fine to drive? I’m wondering whether to go alone or ask my husband to take me, but the latter would mean bringing our two boys along too so wouldn’t be fair if they

there's no such thing as a pre c section steroid injection well there is in layman's terms. I'm having a planned C Sec so baby will be premature so I'm having steroids for baby's lungs, aka a pre C-Sec steroid injection.

Glad it went OK op, you deserve cake tomorrow

@SleepingStandingUp ok👍🏼👍🏼 ye that's for baby's lungs nowt to do we fact it's a c section! Some very petty annoying ppl on here!
I'm so sorry for merely asking a question! It was a genuine question so could best advise not for a bloody argument!

@ameliathomas84 for info www.nice.org.uk/guidance/ng25/chapter/Recommendations#maternal-corticosteroids

ye that's for baby's lungs nowt to do we fact it's a c section! it isn't for the x se. Per se, but it's cos baby is planned to arrive early. So for OP, and for me, it makes perfect sense to call it a pre c sec steroid injection as its a steroid injection that's happening pre planned C se tion precisely because the planned C section is early.

There's no need to get uppity over how op described it, which makes perfect sense in layman terms and which everyone else could follow

ameliathomas84 · 17/11/2019 22:15

@SleepingStandingUp ok thanks for your input! And for putting me right, you just feel so much better now 👍🏼

SleepingStandingUp · 17/11/2019 22:20

Yep, that's me living a life of satisfaction now, like all my prayers have been answered. I'll sleep 12 hour nights now🙄🤣

@Bigoldwimp love a hospital Costa hot chocolate Grin.
Glad it wasn't too bad for you!

LilyPinkNoah · 17/11/2019 23:09

Definitely feels like being kicked by a horse.

schafernaker · 17/11/2019 23:51

I stupidly let the student midwife do my first one 😂 that hurt. Then the chief midwife did the second and in no uncertain terms told me ‘never let the students do it’ 😂😂

xoxhayleyxox · 19/11/2019 15:17

@Bigoldwimp can I ask how many weeks you're having your c section at? Mines just been brought he forward to 38 weeks so I'm having my steroids this Thursday & Friday! X

ameliathomas84 · 19/11/2019 15:38

Why are they giving steroids when you will be full term? (Juat our of curiosity)

xoxhayleyxox · 19/11/2019 15:59

@ameliathomas84 because they say baby's lungs aren't mature enough until 39 weeks for a planned c section. So they give you the steroids to help mature them

ameliathomas84 · 19/11/2019 16:01

Really? I've had two sections and only had steroids when baby was 36 weeks my 37 week section didn't have and I have planned section this tome tht will be at 37/38 weeks and no mention of steroids where are you in country as wondering if it's dwoffwewbt for different hospital? It's so annoying how all procedures are different , there's lots of side effects from steroids on baby so personally would t be having after 37 weeks but still feel should be same info given x

Nanmumandmidwife · 19/11/2019 17:43

@ameliathomas84. What are the side effects on baby that you refer to?
