Nausea but no vomiting

I'm 6+1 weeks pregnant and utterly miserable with nausea. I'm exhausted constantly and can barely eat or move without gagging. I have the salty crackers, digestive biscuits, ginger ale, hard boiled sweets, peppermint tea...the lot and nothing really works. I feel sick if I'm hungry and sick when I eat. I maybe get a few moments of relief just after I've ate but then it comes back. I normally have a really good, healthy diet and now I cannot stomach the thought of vegetables or healthy meals in general. In fact almost nothing appeals to me. I'm trying to make myself eat but I just feel worse. However despite the gagging and dry heaving I'm not actually throwing up...will the doctor still prescribe me medication? I literally cannot function. I have a long commute to work which has been hell and a very demanding active job which I am struggling through each day (I'm a nurse in the operating theatres so do long hours). I feel guilty because I know people have it much worse but I don't know what else to do.

Try the doctor, and if they're not helpful try a different one.

I don't know how feasible this is in your line of work (do they know you're pregnant?) but I found if I ate (Haribo and chocolate) every 2-3 hours that helped a bit.

I felt exactly how you do at 6 weeks and it was unbearable. I went to the doctor and they prescribed my Cyclizine. That didn't work so they prescribed me something else (which I didn't end up taking as I found that forcing myself to eat little and often helped).

Don't suffer in silence, if it's effecting your day to day life to the point you can't function properly then seek help from you GP x

@tableclothing yea I think I I'll call them on monday and get an appointment. My work do know I'm pregnant, we have to tell them given the nature of the job. We use xray and harsh chemicals etc so I'm on tailored duties at the moment.
Ugh it's so horrible

Thanks @CoffeeAndCarbs I'm so over this feeling already and I've only felt it for about a week but every day it seems to get worse

See the Dr asap. I had this with all 3 pregnancies and its a lesser known form of hypermersis gravadium (sp?). The nausea can be dibilatating but as pp said they can give you medication. I'd also suggest eating little but often, filling your stomach can make it worse but a little food helps and try to stay well hydrated

Thank you @mammyofasuperbaby as you have probably heard, nurses make the worst patients but I need to admit defeat on this one

@Stilltobeseen I had Hg in my last pregnancy and while nothing really touched the sickness I did find that taking vitamin b6 10mg four times a day alongside an antihistamine (cyclizine or promethezine) did help a bit with the nausea.

I was like this. It was horrible!

I did find it helped to eat little and often between meals. I alternated between Rude Health oat cakes and rich tea biscuits, basically very plain. I ate half a biscuit every half hour.

I also carried around some robust sick bags and baby wipes so that I didn’t have to also worry about the logistics of being sick (I constantly felt as though I would vomit imminently although it never actually happened).

Industrial quantities of Gaviscon or similar helped me. Mine was actually indigestion but not the heart burn type. I had it throughout both pg - grim Sad

Oh and @justtheonethen has reminded be that Vitamin B definitely makes a noticeable difference (unfortunately I didn’t discover this until my second trimester).

I started having boiled eggs with toast and vegemite for breakfast, both great sources of the right B vitamins.
