Jumpers
Snow suit (use the pram a lot, no car)
2 hats
A merino wool bodysuit
Lots of tights

Pram, sleeping bag for the pram
Car seat
Bouncer
Nappies size 1 (bought size 0 after he was born)

A changing mat
Nappies, wipes
Moses basket or side cot thing plus bedding
Pram or travel system
A sling ( ideally bought after the baby has been born)
Plenty of vests and baby grows min a dozen of each
Muslins
Baby bath, some people don’t use one but DS is still using his at 2.
Car seat
Travel cot, doubles as a play pen

Things I didn’t buy and didn’t miss
Monitor
Changing table, I changed on the floor even though I had a c section
I was given a cot and he hates it
High chair again was given one
Top and tail bowl
Pram suits are difficult for very small babies I just used blankets
Nursery furniture

Things I should have bought
One of those sleepy head sleep positioned things

I breastfed so didn’t get any bottle feeding stuff. I did buy a breast pump but only needed it for a week at the beginning

Amazon prime is essential if you don’t live in a big city

Sleepyheads go against safe sleep advice.

We bought:
Travel system pram but didn't use the pram for long as it was so bulky, I ended up buying a stroller that led flat. Used the infant car seat part for ages though, left it in the car as they got older

Moses basket
Changing mat and a spare for upstairs for night time
Bibs
Blankets and sheets
Some people have a cosy toes for the pram but I used a nice warm blanket
Vests and baby gros, they had lots of outfits bought for them
Cold water steriliser, bottles etc (depends if you are bf or not)
Cot which converts to a cotbed, drawers and wardrobe for baby's room
Bouncy chair which they both loved, and my friends bought a swing which they both liked too
Didn't use muslins for my first but they came in handy for my 2nd as he was more of a sicky baby so put one under his head while he was in his Moses basket
Instead of a high chair we got a booster seat that straps to a normal dining chair
Baby monitor
Tiny hangers for their clothes

Not sure what else lol

The essentials are:
something to sleep in - Moses basket or next to me crib/ cot depending on what you want in your room as they should be with you for 6 months

Bedding should only be mattress protector and sheet over mattress and baby wears gro bag type things or securely tuck in a blanket (preferable cellular)

car seat if you drive

pram or carrier or both depending on what suits your needs and life style. You can try these out in some stores so worth looking around before buying

clothes- baby grows and vests are most practical combination. we got a few in each size and got more from supermarkets if needed. you don't need loads. A hat although my hospital provided hats and asked that you used theirs as they colour code depending on babies needs

food- if your breastfeeding you won't need anything but if formula you will need bottles. don't get too much of one formula either as little one might not like the one you get

nappies and cotton wool or wipes and changing mat - your advises to use cotton wool and water over wipes but you might want wipes for ease. also a barrier cream like bupanthen will help prevent nappy rash

baby monitor you won't use for ages as baby will be with you for 6 months. Muslin cloths for sick etc are handy to have and we got loads very cheap at a nearly new sale along with clothing so you don't have to spend a lot. I find our light weight bouncer chair handy for sitting little one in whilst I shower etc but you don't need one as you can put them on the floor in blankets and towels instead if.you prefer. if in doubt hold off getting stuff as supermarkets often have everything you need and online do next day deliveries with most places

You can go to town or you can improvise - babies are pretty forgiving!
I didn't have a pram or cot for the first 6 months, just a sling and a moses basket/co-sleeping.
I would say re prams, I think a rear-facing one is much better - I sometimes wonder if the rise in children's language delay is due to forward-facing prams!
Don't spend too much on newborn clothes as they outgrow so quick. But enough for laundering - explosive poos can mean a full change several times a day...
Nipple cream.
Monitor not essential as you will hear it wake up (super-tuned hearing!).
