Hello, can I join this nice thread? Age 44, tested positive today, must be around 5 weeks. I have 2 children (5 and 6) and have had 3 miscarriages, most recently 2 years ago. I started my own thread largely consisting of my own panic this morning but I’m finding this one very helpful.

Guessing that's the reason for mine then and due to my son being 6lb1, apparently that's classed as small now

Sorry to hear your under the weather it could be your immune system low, but a trip to doctors would ease your mind, I've got a sickness bug going around my house at the minute my partner and kids had it so waiting for my turn, maybe the doctor could give you something that will give you a bit of a help with eating.

Welcome secondsop, think being pregnant now at this age comes with different symptoms from when I was in my 30's so it's good to no that its normal as you do panic and worry.

Found out yesterday I am pregnant with my 3rd at 40, I was very surprise as I just assumed I was unfertile now as had TTC a few years back.. I already have a DS 15, DD 9 and DSD 5 in a (small) 3 bed house- eeek!

I don't feel too old though and everyone I meet thinks I'm 30 ish so I guess it is just a number! Confused

FraterculaArctica · 25/11/2019 10:05

Saw this thread and just wanted to wish everyone all the best... I am sitting with my 4 week old DC3, I'll be 42 in a couple of months. Had DC1 and 2 at 36 and 38 respectively. This last pregnancy was more tiring and I felt worse than the first two, but not too bad! DC3 is perfect though was born 6 weeks early so it's been a slightly tough start.

Secondsop · 25/11/2019 11:20

Congratulations @FraterculaArctica! Thank you for sharing your positive experience.

LillianFullStop · 25/11/2019 12:12

Oh no @CouldBeAGreatMum I feel for you! Immune system is definitely down so take a trip to GP just in case. I got hit with a viral infection that took me 3 weeks to get over but it was reassuring to see the GP to make sure it's nothing more serious.

Welcome @Secondsop and sorry for your previous mcs - hope this one is smooth sailing for you!

Welcome @Zip79 - sounds like you will have some helpful babysitters on hand when baby comes lucky you!

Congrats on the new arrival @FraterculaArctica!

CouldBeAGreatMum · 25/11/2019 18:52

Thanks for the reassurance guys. I am a little better today and made sure to rest up all yesterday. Still got a throat etc but nothing major. I am glad that the immune system thing is normal. I literally have no idea about any of this stuff. I am a complete newbie and never paid close attention where other people's pregnancies were concerned! Plus I don't have a supportive Mum to ask - so this thread is invaluable!

Hope everyone is doing ok today. I also have cold-like symptoms that are v annoying (painful sinuses) and I feel like I have a constant low-grade fever. Went to the GP today to set the medical stuff in motion on a “let’s take this one day at a time” basis and I don’t think the poor NQ doctor quite knew what had hit him with the multitude of issues that are relevant for me, but his supervisor was also v helpful. Most important thing was to get the new prescription for different blood pressure medication. I have been weighing up whether to tell my manager at work (esp given the medical appointments I’ve got coming up) on the basis that if it doesn’t work out, she would need to know fairly rapidly, but I would really prefer not to at this stage.

Carr1978 · 26/11/2019 20:34

Hello everyone, and congratulations FraterculaArctica, thanks for sharing, I told my manager when I was 6 weeks, just because I work at george in asda, and I have to push a lot of heavy crates and rails and stand on foot stools etc, I had to have a one to one type thing where we had to go through what I can do and cant, but if it wasn't for that I'd of waited until at least my dating scan.

My job is nothing like as strenuous as it’s an office job. Will keep things under my hat for now I think although the multiplicity of upcoming appointments might make people wonder (or maybe not, at my age!).

Carr1978 · 29/11/2019 18:40

Hello everyone, was wondering if anyone else have been spotting? I had my first light bleed when I was 5 weeks and have had them since I'm 10 weeks now and still spot

LillianFullStop · 29/11/2019 21:01

Hi @Carr1978 I had spotting with DD1 but none this pregnancy so far (13w now)

LillianFullStop · 29/11/2019 21:03

@Carr1978 if you're worried you could call the EPU and they might check with a scan so you can get some reassurance? when is your scan date?

Secondsop · 29/11/2019 21:25

Spotted (brown) all the way through my pregnancy when I had my youngest child. I had many scans as a result and had fully convinced myself it would be bad news each time but all was fine.

Carr1978 · 30/11/2019 15:10

Thank you for feed back, I got a scan on the 13th December, had a emergency one when I was 5 weeks, then another at 6 weeks all was okay, I've never had this before and I've got 6 kids so completely new to me, I have been over doing things also tbh, my partner has put me on bed rest today lol, so hoping a days rest be what I need
