Hello

Does it really have to be body temperature? My back is killing me already 😫

It should be less than 40c, but I'd probably go a couple of degrees below that. Should be warm but not hot. Shouldn't make you sweat. Ive heard you can test the water temperature with your elbow but I'm not quite sure how you know. Helps to get a bath thermometer as you'll need it when baby arrives anyway.

@Mum2b2020 I read 37 degrees but it's not that warm when you get in and waste of time personally :( never mind thank you xx

I had no idea about this. My kids are 8 and 6 now, but when I was pregnant I just had normal baths. I didn’t realise that was a problem!

GrumpyHoonMain · 12/11/2019 12:25

Have a hot shower instead. There aren’t the same restrictions as the hot water will run off

Boymummy3 · 12/11/2019 12:33

Literally aslong as your not cooking in the bath then its absolutley fine to have it hot. Im on my 3rd and never ever been told it has to be a certain temp and i have never even bought a thermometer to test it before hand. I make my bath warm enough to be able to get straight in then once im in i add more hot water anyway. X

Thank you ladies 😊

Honestly it's fine. Unless you really boil yourself for hours, you will not get so hot in the bath that it would raise your core temperature to dangerous levels. All Finnish pregnant women continue going to sauna when pregnant, and Finland has a very low rate of the same issues overheating is supposed to cause.

PotteringAlong · 12/11/2019 12:45

You also really don’t need a bath thermometer when the baby is here. Stick your hand in. Is it hot? Put some cold in. Is it warm? It’s fine.

Celebelly · 12/11/2019 12:54

37 degrees would be miserable! Mine were never that cold. It's impossible really to be in a hot bath for long enough to do any damage as it's constantly getting cooler. It's not the same as a jacuzzi, which is kept at a constant temp. My baths while pregnant were always around 42 degrees.

LividLaughLove · 12/11/2019 15:12

I read 37.5. Have treated myself to up to 39 now at past twenty weeks...

Andersonx3 · 12/11/2019 16:57

I have them hot but if my skin starts to go red I'll think about getting out. I also went in a hot tub at about 25 weeks for an hour or so at about 37° which was fine. I'm 37+3 now and baby is all good. Just be sensible Smile

37 degrees is tepid and horrible. Before pregnancy I would have baths a couple of degrees below boiling Grin when I was pregnant I toned it down a bit and didn't wallow quite so long but I had them hot so they were soothing. Then I tidal waved water onto the floor when I got out again

MrsSokhi · 12/11/2019 20:38

Thank you ladies for all your help, enjoyed a warm bath when I got home from work and my back feels much better. Xxx
