Chest infection in early pregnancy

I'm roughly about 4 weeks pregnant, literally just got a positive test a matter of days ago. I'm over the moon because I went through a miscarriage in July but I'm terrified it's going to happen again.

I think I've got a chest infection, I had one in August and I'm defiantly experiencing the same symptoms.

Will this harm my baby? I'm so worried. And will the hospital/doctors give me antibiotics if I go, and will these be safe in the first trimester?

I'm probably just being stupid but I feel so ill + I'm worrying a lot so could really do with some advice. Thank you in advance x

Just go to the doctors maybe and stay hydrated

They will give you antibioitcs if you have a chest infection if you go to gp. If its an oncoming cold then they advise staying hydrated, this wont affect your baby no x

OP I had 3 chest infections in 12 weeks when pregnant with my dd, the last one I had at 14 weeks. It was hell, and I felt horrendous but dd was fine, shes 2 weeks old now and perfectly healthy. The gp only gave me antibiotics on my 3rd infection, as they believed they were viral infections anyway, and tbh the antibiotics did nothing. What helped for me was taking an iron supplement, once I started taking that, I stopped getting the infections. It might be worth asking your gp for a bood test to check your iron levels.

Thankyou for your answers - I am going to go really early tomorrow. Is paracetamol safe to take? I probably sound so silly but just want to be as careful as possible!
