Hi all, so im 29 + weeks now and starting to think about caring for below pre/post birth. Any tips? I've heard a lot about the expert midwife range but they're pretty expensive.

Great thanks girls that'll save me a bob or two from buying those. I already use lavender oil in the bath to relax so that's handy, will get some tea tree oil too and a plastic jug! I've been watching some birth videos and am a bit alarmed at how much you need to stretch, which sounds really naive i know!!

You’d be amazed how stretchy we are, our bodies are amazing!

Water water water don’t drink anything like OJ or anything fizzy you’ll regret it.

Warm baths with no bath products

Remember, it will pass I found recovery pretty tough as I had severe 2nd degree tears very almost 3rd degree. It may be unpleasant but I promise it will pass pretty quick. Start stocking up on maternity pads I used asda & boots both were good

Following this with interest as totally clueless about this part. Can I ask why no to orange juice? Sorry if it's obvious.

BeanBag7 · 11/11/2019 07:30

@Saxon2016 I assume that acidic drinks like juice might make your wee more acidic and therefore sting more.

I had a 2nd degree tear and labial graze. My friends all suggested frozen pads with witch hazel but I just found them mushy and uncomfortable! I didn't buy ant expensive sprays or creams, just cleaned the area carefully in the shower.

I've had two babies before so been down this road. Never used anything with DS1 other than clean water and had an episiotomy with him, same for DS2 but just a few grazes with him. No infections or anything either.

Boots maternity pads are the best though and I tried lots! They have normal for at first and then slim ones, they were the best I tried,

Catarinah · 11/11/2019 22:04

I have bought the boots pads but not enough so will pop back wnd get some more! Any advice on best breast pads? Mine have already started to leak... Is that early? Im 29 weeks

I used boots & Asda breast pads again, IM not sure about the leaks Op but I’m sure others will be along soon x

Sagradafamiliar · 11/11/2019 22:13

I've never heard of any prepping or aftercare and I've had all my children. I'm sure you'll be just fine!
Not sure about breast pads...aren't they all the same?

mistermagpie · 12/11/2019 09:54

My boobs have never leaked during pregnancy or afterwards. I actually think my boobs are faulty in that regard, I couldn't breastfeed my two sons at all and I just don't think I seem to make milk.
