I had an abdominal myomectomy in March 2018, for a number of fibroids including an enormous one as big as a grapefruit, then a hysteroscopy in April this year to remove some of the scarring. When we started down the IVF route in June this year everything looked good except I had one thin area of endometrium from the op. The hospital still referred me for yet another fibroid procedure and were planning to give me IVF after this, although I was warned not to risk twins by implanting 2 eggs at one...but miraculously found I was pg naturally in september after 5 years of trying.

Now having passed the 12 week mark now where I was worried it would all go wrong, I am now a little anxious about what will happen as the baby gets bigger, in light of the thin area of lining.

I am very scientifically minded and looking online, there seems to be a 0.8 % risk of rupture after myomectomy, and no-one has ever said to me not to try at all...but for peace of mind I would love to hear from anyone who went on to have a successful pregnancy after one, particularly abdominal rather than laproscopic.

Thank you in advance to anyone who is generous enough to share x

I had a myomectomy (open to remove a teapot sized fibroid) and 4 years later gave birth to my son, now 11 months after his birth I am pregnant with my second child. Didn't have an issue giving birth (although it was buy c section). My myomectomy didn't go into the uterine cavity as my fibroid was on top rather than inside and my consultant advised that we tried ttc as soon as I had recovered. Good luck.

Bloody hell Tigs, it's something when they stop using fruit to compare it to and have to go to tea-pots! Thanks so much for sharing and so happy for you, good luck with your second pregnancy.

I think the teapot reference came about because that was what was in front of me when the consultant saw me (and it fitted the description) !
