I am currently 25 weeks and feel so fatigued!
I’m struggling to even work full time at the moment and nap each day when I get home from work. Everything is slipping, house work, washing, social life etc.

I’ve tried to talk to others about this, but get dismissed as it’s “normal”, or they will joke about this being practice for having baby... I can’t imagine doing this and having a toddler to take care of, like a lot of others do!

I just feel so feeble at the moment...

Can you please tell me how you all felt during pregnancy? I’m not deficient in anything or unwell, just so flipping tired. How did you cope?

I feel your pain! I'm 28 weeks with my first and everyday is wake up > work (but managing so much less than I would have done before > home > easiest meal possible > bed by nine. Weekends are the same but replace work with "sitting on the sofa".

I can't remember the last time I cleaned properly, washing is getting done on a "NEED" basis and I'm shopping day to day because I haven't got the energy to do more.

I've been working on the basis that it's completely normal...

@Brianna83 thank you, I am sorry you’re suffering but that does reassure me.
I just feel so useless.
It doesn’t help that the most recent friend I had who was pregnant pretty much carried on as normal and loved it!!

Have you had your iron tested recently? It’s easy to slip into being anaemic in pregnancy even if you have a good diet!

Pregnancy is really tiring in general, your body is going through a lot. But I’d say it’s not entirely normal to be utterly exhausted until maybe nearer full term when you are lugging around a very heavy baby and your body is just done!

Last pregnancy, I got more & more exhausted in the second trimester and started to feel terrible. Got my bloods done & I was really anaemic and also deficient in B12 (despite taking pregnancy supplements!). I felt so much better on a higher dose of both!

minipie · 08/11/2019 20:56

IME that’s normal, sorry. I remember having to pinch my legs at work because I was falling asleep in meetings, despite having slept 10 hours each night. And snoozes on the sofa in the evenings too. It must be worse if you are taking care of a toddler - one of the reasons I kept working between babies 1 and 2.

minipie · 08/11/2019 20:57

I was borderline for iron but never anaemic but yes it’s worth testing.

Karigan195 · 08/11/2019 20:58

Absolutely fucking knackered just about covers it. Falling asleep pretty much the minute you sit down after work. Barely keeping your eyes open at work.

Growing new humans just is exhausting.

I used to save my one caffeine drink for lunch time and have a kip in the car at lunch to keep going myself.

RandomMess · 08/11/2019 20:58

I always ended up with anaemia much earlier than they test for it. A week or 2 after starting on floradix I would feel so so so much better!

AlphaLemon · 08/11/2019 21:02

Thank you ladies, I’m glad to know I’m not just being weak and that others feel the same. Thank you so much Flowers

I know I’m not anaemic, I’ve had recent tests.

Oh I was there 12 weeks ago! Around 25 weeks I was also so tired, would sleep 8-10 hours a night, then to work where I would struggle to stay awake all day, then home for a 2-4 hr nap.. I turned out to be borderline iron deficient. Since increasing my iron I can stay awake all day and don’t need naps any more, but I do still feel quite tired, though might have something to do with the huge and heavy beach ball attached to my front now!

RandomMess · 08/11/2019 21:08

The thing is they don't know what is normal for your iron count before you got pregnant, yours may actually be very low for you...

Taking floradix or spatone would be safe.

YouJustDoYou · 08/11/2019 21:09

With all of mine it's like I couldn't control it- would fall asleep with my head lolled back on the sofa. Fall asleep in the car. Fell asleep once in the shower. Twice in the bath. It's a depth of exhaustion no one understands unless they've been through it.

Shelley54 · 08/11/2019 21:10

I found both times that the tiredness was almost chemical - my eyes would just close and I'd need to sleep.

You have my sympathies. It sucks.

But also you will laugh once you have the baby in your arms at how tired you thought you were...

Gyptian · 08/11/2019 21:14

I would definitely recommend getting your iron levels tested. I felt like how you describe during my second pregnancy and it turned out I was anaemic. Once the iron tablets kicked in I felt a million times better. At 25 weeks with my first, I felt completely normal with no noticeable tiredness,

WinkyisbackontheButterBeer · 08/11/2019 21:15

Yes it’s horrid. I was so knackered that I momentarily fell asleep in the middle of muni busy year 1 classroom. It was only when my TA asked if I was ok that I realised that I’d nodded off with my chin on my hand. Bless the group that I was working with, they’d all just carried on with their maths.
it’s even worse when the insomnia kicks in sorry Blush

Boymummy3 · 08/11/2019 21:22

I'm 28+5 now and all the way throughout I've been exhausted daily. I've had to take naps during the day/tea time once husband is home from work, also have a 9yr old and 3yr old to take care off so I've put it down to not stopping constantly I did think it wasnt really normal though and just had my thoughts confirmed by my 28 week blood tests I'm anemic and need iron.. I think they should really test this earlier instead of booking app & 28 weeks as what's normal when your nearly pregnant isnt normal levels for further along. If you havnt already had them tested I'd ask for them to be done. X

My first pregnancy I didn't feel so tiered until near the end when I was struggling to sleep.

Growing a baby is exhausting and the time of year doesn't help!

I've been absolutely shattered this pregnancy, but I've got a 2yr old to look after and work part time so it's just totally different. Also not kept so well this time and I was anemic for a while which makes u more exhausted.

Currently struggling to stay awake, 35wks pregnant now, not long now thank god! Aches and pains everywhere, taking the stairs is a real effort, I'm so done with being pregnant!
