Possible Induce - Pre eclampsia risk

This week I've done a 24hour urine test as my urine previously showed up that I had protein in it, so they wanted a more comprehensive sample to test from over a longer period.
Currently 39 + 2 days. The hospital have called me this evening to say results are back and I have to go in to the labour ward tomorrow and bring my bags with me, because if my blood pressure is high, they will start delivery. Otherwise if blood pressure is normal they will send me home.
I'm being monitored pretty closely because during screening, I tested as high risk for developing pre eclympsia...this is after having a completely straight forward pregnancy the whole way through to now.
Does anyone have experience of this or something similar. It's my first baby and I had fully been expecting to go over due date and calm until now but could do with a little hand hold.

Happened to me both time. Chances are the will induce you when you’re in.

Ratbagratty · 08/11/2019 18:45

My experience was different but wanted to say you are in the best place, they will monitor you and baby. Try to stay calm, listen to them and ask as many questions as you want. Have you got some one with you?

Yeah my DH is home from work now. Thank you! It's the not knowing that's driving me a bit bonkers this evening!

I'm 34 full weeks tomorrow and was just diagnosed with preeclampsia, to report to hospital tomorrow for monitoring. They say they'd try to keep blood pressure down to see if they can get me to carry a bit closer to term but will have to do c-section if not. I am scared as well, but if anything can be of consolation to you - you're already in the hospital and your baby is term. It will all be fine.

Good luck for tomorrow! Same to you and I hope all goes well

Hello. I had my first baby in March and I got told I had pre-eclampsia at 38weeks and I ended up staying on the ward, I got put on meds for my blood pressure and in the end they said they would induce me at 39w, in the end was induced and 2days later 39+2 I had my little one. Do not panic it's the best place and yes more than likely you will be induced but they will take good car of you both... good luck Smile

I had pre eclampsia, went from being fine at my midwife appointment on the monday to waking up on friday looking like a michelin man. I was admitted & induced, 48 hours later, my induction failed & I had emcs, had massive pph & ended up in high dependency with HELLP syndrome. I stayed in hospital 4 days after birth but discharged myself due to lack of care. My bp continued to rise but my lovely GP treated me at home because he knew that I hadn't had good care in hospital, it took 3 months on medication for my bp to return to normal.

This happened to me. Towards the end of my pregnancy at my regular midwife appointments my blood pressure was on the higher side and also traces of protein were detected in urine but neither high enough to cause real concern. Exactly 39 weeks I noticed baby wasn’t moving very much so called triage who wanted to see me right away. Blood pressure was taken right away which was higher than they would have liked so before they even started the trace of baby’s heart they told me they’d be monitoring bp for a few hours. During this time it didn’t change dramatically so bloods were taken. The team that were on shift fully expected me to be discharged that evening and to return the following day for a scan just to double check baby.

After shift change the night shift consultant came to see me to tell me that although my bloods had come back negative for preeclampsia due to to being 39 weeks and symptoms being consistent with preeclampsia I would be getting induced that evening as he didn’t want to risk it developing.

My induction was done just before midnight that night - Wednesday and baby was born lunchtime Friday. For me the induction process went well - it had done it’s job by late Thursday afternoon - we were just waiting in the next available space in labour ward that dragged it out.

I had preeclampsia with DC1, diagnosed at 40 weeks exactly. I wasn't keen on being induced, so we tried medication first, as an inpatient. That didn't work, so we induced a few days later, which was totally fine and went easily. Remember that you are the boss of your care- ask questions, and treat it as dialogue. Your medical team is there to help and advise you. If you are not comfortable with something ask for more explanation and information. It can help to write down things you might want to discuss so you remember!

This happened to me as well. A whole 10 weeks ago now. Baby is also my first.

Mildly high BP and protein picked up at 36 week midwife appointment. Bloods were taken, which evidently came back positive, as the next day, the day assessment unit asked me to stop by.

One set of repeat bloods, BP and urine check later determined I had pre-eclampsia and it was worsening, despite my lack of all other symptoms. I was immediately admitted, put on labetalol and an induction was booked for 37 weeks. Initially they wanted to do it sooner as baby was very well grown for its dates, but we negotiated that as long as I didn't deteriorate, it would be best for baby to go to term.

Fortunately, my BP stabilised extremely well on labetalol and I made it to 37 weeks. Pessaries didn't really do much, so one drip induced labour later (gas + air, diamorphine, no intervention, small 2nd degree tear), and I was holding my beautiful daughter.

You're going to do brilliantly, @Tmnmpa1. Your baby is fully baked, and while it might not be the end to your pregnancy you (like all of us) envisaged, all it means is you're meeting your little one a little earlier than expected. You'd never know my little girl was 3 weeks early.

Good luck for today, and let us know how things went.

Hi all, so I had blood pressure and bloods looked at today and decided no need for induction but have an appointment to go in to the antenatal clinic Monday.
They did do a membrane sweep though and discovered I am 3cm dilated so the doctor who examined me seems to think baby could come in next few days

Glad to hear that OP! Fingers crossed the sweep works it's magic...
