10 wks and feel weak and dizzy between meals

I'm not starving myself, far from it, although I am trying to watch what I eat and be sensible as my BMI is 32.

But if I don't eat for a couple of hours, I feel a bit shaky and lightheaded. I went shopping at the weekend and had to stop to sit and eat. It'd had only been two hours since breakfast.

I'm trying to do the six small meals a day thing but it's making me concerned about GD.

Anybody else?

Seriously, stop worrying and just eat if you feel like that. Ideally before you feel like that. Keep it healthy ish but you’re growing a baby, you need calories!

Thanks @Orangedaisy, don't worry I am, if I don't, I feel like I'm about to keel over! I've never been very good at depriving myself and I wouldn't start trying to when I was pregnant.

I've been trying to make really healthy choices though and eat and drink really well. And I didnt want to start eating loads extra and 'eat for two' when I've been told I don't need to.

But I didn't expect to feel like this - am wonder g whether despite trying to dodge it I might end up having GD afterall. Not sure if you know at this stage

If you're at 10 weeks have they not taken your bloods? Surely you'd have heard if you were at risk of GD? xxx I'm 11 weeks myself and I have to constantly eat to stave off the nausea and am struggling to keep awake at work Blush I've put on more weight than I should've by now too. I think just try to follow your bodies cues is the best thing and don't worry too much. Just hoping the second trimester is easier. lol Flowers

Definitely eat if you feel that you need to! Your body is probably wondering what on Earth is going on with the baby taking all of your nutrients. I don’t think testing for GD is until later on in the pregnancy and once your placenta starts to take over then you’ll feel less ravenous!
Congratulations on your pregnancy.

I had real problems with hypoglycemia towards the end of the first trimester and through to the start of the second. I basically switched from having set meals to grazing throughout the day, other than dinner, and it really helped. So e.g. instead of having my normal bowl of cereal in the morning I had a smaller bowl but then took a bag of cereal into work with me and had two more portions across the course of the morning and a portion of dried fruit before lunch etc. Midwife and doctors weren't worried about gd as they normally worry if your blood sugar is too high rather than if it's too low so they kept an eye on me, but by middle of the second trimester it had evened out and I was back to eating like a normal person!
