Hiya all,
Your probably gonna think that I am daft asking this question, but I honestly dont know if I can or how too, but can you change the MW you see at your GP's?

I have had the same MW all the time bar the last appointment I had as she was running late so I got to see a different MW, who was lovely BTW. I really dont feel comfortable with my regular MW at all. She seems like a nice enough person but she is quite abrupt, rude and very short with me. Like I am an inconvienience to her, like she cant be bothered with me. (May be my hormones )

I am PG with my first and I tend to ask many questions when I go for my appointments. Not loads and loads maybe 2 or 3 questions. Alot of the time she just says to me, 'Oh you dont need to know that' and that is if I am lucky at her answering them at all.

My last appointment was 3 weeks ago at 25 weeks gestation and before that I saw her for all of 5 minutes at 15 weeks. I dont know if this is right or not!!!!

Also do all MW do fundal hight measurements? as I have not had one yet and I am 27+5.

So can I change the MW I see at my GP's and if so, how????
Sorry for the long post, thank you for reading.

Can't answer your main question but re. fundal height I'm now 22wks and haven't had mine measured at all, nor any of the 'palpating' the books talk about. Haven't asked though, maybe I should, have just been assuming that if it was important she'd do it.

Fundal height measurements are not normally done until 28 weeks. You should be able to change your midwife, if you don't feel comfortable asking her, write to your head of midwifery who should get you a new one. Of course you could always change your gp surgery if you don't have any particular ties to this one.

You dont live in walthamstow by any chance do you - she sounds exactly like my midwife???

No Mixedmama I'm in Lincolnshire Went to see MW today and she was actually ok, so now I am just thinking that maybe it is my hormones working double time!

I have only met mine once and she was so awful. Decided not to bother changing as hopefully thiis preg will be uncomplicated like DS and I wont have to see her that much, plus I thought as we have only met once perhaps it was a bad day. Definitely wasnt my hormones tho as DH commented on her as soon as we left.

GoodGollyMissMolly · 21/08/2007 13:13

My DH kept telling me that it was as good as I will get and not to get upset about it!!
Needless to say I told him in no uncertain terms to shut up
