24 weeks felt no movement

Hey,
I am just over 24 weeks pregnant with my first baby and I have still not felt any movement what so ever. At my 20 week scan I was advised I have an anterior placenta but surely I should at least feel something? I am an extremely paranoid pregnant lady and this isn’t helping!!

Can you call your midwife and express your worries? Sorry, I have no advice as I'm only 20 weeks but I hope somebody comes along with a more useful answer for you soon. I also hope you feel baby move soon too, just to reassure you. If in doubt, always get checked out.

leghairdontcare · 04/11/2019 15:55

Are you overweight? Sorry to ask but I am and that also makes a difference to you ability to feel movements.. Was the 20 week scan the last time you saw someone? I would give the midwife a call to let them know and they can arrange to see you for reassurance.

It's completely normal with an anterior placenta. You should only be counting on movement at 28 weeks. However if you're really concerned of course call you epu and ask their advice!

@Milfin hi OP! I'm the exact same as you, 24+2 and didn't feel movement until recently. The placenta can really block things and get quite annoying. You may have felt something now and not realised it was a kick as that's what I did until when I went to the maternity unit they checked me and they said "did you feel that?" And I had been missing kicks for a week or so.

Please do call your maternity unit to get checked just to be sure Grin

I'm 24+2 and only started feeling them around a week ago. Since then they have pretty much disappeared - lucky if I feel something once a day.
I saw my midwife today for my 24wk checkup and she didn't seem bothered at all despite it being all over everything you see that you should panic if you don't feel things by 24wks!

She noted that it's not my placenta placement that's causing it and said the heartbeat is fine. She did say baby is sitting low so may be kicking my bladder instead or it could be that the baby is breach.
She told me to keep an eye on things as I'm having a lot of pain. She's asked to see me again in 2wks instead of 4, so maybe you should ask for extra check ups too, just to make sure?

Thanks for all your replies! I haven’t seen anyone since my 20 week scan, I’ve got a midwife appointment in 10 days hopefully will feel something before then. No I’m not overweight and haven’t gained too much although not sure my size 8s squeeze anymore! 😭

@Milfin I feel your pain, I really do! I'm 21+4 and still only feeling small "flutterings" from time to time, and very infrequently! I also have an anterior placenta and, like you, I'm also quite slim so weight isn't the issue. I'm getting so frustrated and it is a constant worry! I hope you feel something soon, do let us know how you get on Xxx.

MarchingAnts · 04/11/2019 17:35

Hi, I had an anterior placenta too and I didn't feel anything until about 30 weeks.

Pythonesque · 04/11/2019 17:39

I was just starting to feel a little with my eldest at your stage, also having been told at the 20 week scan that I had an anterior placenta.
Hope you can get reassured.

Jesskir89 · 04/11/2019 19:33

Op I'm almost 21 weeks with an anterior placentor and don't feel movement I don't think anyway.

sadtoday21 · 08/11/2019 15:09

Anyone with anterior placenta - when did you start to feel more regular movement? I’ve had tiny nudges here and there but at 22+1 it’s still very infrequent and not strong! Thought I would be feeling more by now and getting a bit anxious.

Turt · 08/11/2019 15:33

@sadtoday21 24 weeks is when I established a routine of movement

Sparkle0109 · 08/11/2019 20:48

I was 21 weeks when I first felt flutters with anterior placenta and by 23 weeks I contacted maternity cause I hadn't felt anything all weekend, they were brill and offered for me to go up to get checked over.
For a piece of mind I would ring your midwife and they may offer you get checked out but if not try not to worry to much, I have a friend who pretty much didnt feel anything alot of the time through pregnancy because of her placenta position

sadtoday21 · 09/11/2019 00:07

That's really helpful - thanks! I know they say you don't need to monitor until 28 weeks, but it seems like you would want to as early as 24? But maybe that's not possible with anterior placenta.
