Dental - Maternity exemption certificate

Does anyone know if having a wisdom tooth removed would be free with the maternity exemption certificate? Or would I have to pay? I'm not currently pregnant so no issues there, but still within the 12 months of being covered for dental. I'm getting alot of pain from my wisdom tooth coming through so thinking it may need to be removed!

You shouldn’t pay for you dental treatment while having the exemption certificate. You can thou double check with your dentist.

It's covered. I had one out a few weeks ago (although it was a straightforward extraction, I didn't need general anaesthetic).

Weathergirl great thanks just wasn't sure if the exemption only covered check ups and emergencies but I'll definitely be requesting to have it out next week! It should hopefully just be simple too.

@boodles101 my dentist (also a long standing family friend) said that it's a tooth sacrifice per baby! So presumably he's used to seeing this sort of thing 🤣

All dental treatment is free. Obviously they might raise an eyebrow and draw a limit at a tooth implant or braces but yeah pretty much most common dental treatments like fillings, extractions (any tooth), scale and polish, root treatment, crowns etc are free

If you are referred to hospital oral surgery on the NHS it’s always free.

I had my wisdom tooth out for free without any exemption card last December.. it was done at my dentist, they never mentioned a charge?

It wasn’t very pleasant, my tooth would not budge, I ended up really bruised where the dentist was pushing on my face Confused but I am eternally grateful it’s out after years and years of pain & infections! I’d go through it all again! Quite good weight loss tool before Christmas as well, I lived off soup for a couple weeks & lost a good few pounds, so I felt a lot less guilty stuffing my face over Christmas 😂
