Work and exhausted?!

I’m 14 weeks today and am feeling really groggy since the weekend. I’m off work today but just feeling really exhausted - my job requires a lot of bending and pulling and pushing heavy filing cabinets. Also have my first big exam for my qualification at the weekend and I’m so stressed! Any suggestions on what I can do to help myself?!

Have you had your workplace assessment since becoming pregnant? You may find that a change in duties is in order to keep you and baby safe if your job is quite physical.

No not yet, not sure they think it’s too physical or demanding though I’m just exhausted!

You cant be pushing/pulling heavy filling cabinets about whilst pregnant. You will end up doing yourself damage asin back etc... I only carried a tin of paint to my car before and my back is now in bits lol you need to have an assessment and as PP has said a change in duties x

I've just looked on the HSE website and am surprised to learn it isn't a legal requirement for a work place to do a risk assessment for expectant mothers. You learn something new every day!

It is still worth having a look at your working practices with your manager and making sure you're not taking any unnecessary risks.

It is an exhausting time, that's for sure!

At around 14 - 19 weeks, I really struggled with fatigue and actually blood tests showed it was aggravated by low blood sugar. I recommend you try snacking often - I found if I ate every hour and a half to two hours, something small with slow release carbs, I was still tired but it did really help!
