Hi, I'm currently 5 wk 6 days pregnant my dr sent me for a scan last week as been getting pains.

When I had ultrasound all that I could see was a sack in the correct place? No yolk sack, fetal pole, heartbeat or anything.

I'm back this Wednesday for 2nd ultrasound.

Has anyone else experienced this and went on to have normal pregnancy? This baby is by ivf & I'm worried sick! X

Yes me!

I had some bleeding that didn't really stop as soon as I found out I was pregnant with my second child. I went to GP when I was about 5 1/2 weeks to put wheels in motion for an early scan as they won't usually see you until 6 weeks. They phoned & wanted to see me straight away to check it wasn't ectopic so had a scan at what I believed to be 5+5 and they could see a pregnancy sac but nothing else.

After looking much more closely she thought there was possibility a feint yolk sac but really couldn't say.

Had to go back a week later when I was then 6+5 and there was a baby with a heartbeat. The difference a week makes is insane.

That little pregnancy sac is 10 months old today.

Your scan was super early so sounds like what they could see is exactly what would be expected given the stage of pregnancy. They have ruled out an ectopic pregnancy which is the most concerning if someone is having pains. Fingers crossed when you go next week everything is looking good Smile

@Jsh125 that is such reassuring news to hear! I've been googling, watching YouTube videos etc actually going out my mind 😫

Really hoping for good news on Wednesday! Thankyou for explaining your experience it has made me feel slightly more at ease x

Was it an internal scan you had?? Either way 5weeks is really early so what has been seen on a scan is typically normal for the amount of weeks you are heartbeats are usually only seen around the 7week mark too. X

It's extremely early for a scan so that sounds about right, but it progresses quickly, so each time you go there'll very more to see Smile

I was scanned at 7 weeks, baby measured 2.8 mm and saw the heart flicker, but was told I’m about 5 weeks.

I was a bit scared but also sounded strange that we could see the heart at 5 weeks! I knew I wasn’t that far off from 7 weeks as I know when I did the thing.

Went to have my 12 weeks scan( was about 13+3) and baby was grown and dated 13+0.

So end of story I conceived 3 days later than I thought and I wasn’t 2 weeks off after all. They can’t measure baby well at 5-6 weeks, it’s not accurate as they’re so small and done grow at a different peace.

Hope it all works well for you and hope you find some reassurance in my story.

@Ml922 you're welcome Smile. The waiting and all the uncertainty are the worst. I must have googled every single bit of detail & measurement given on my scan report to see what it may have meant.

Fingers crossed Wednesday shows a positive outcome.

@Boymummy3 yes was an internal scan I got, I know it's so early but expected to see even a little shadow where the yolk sack is but nothing looked like a black hole. X

@MarchingAnts thankyou hoping it was just too early to see anything else, the worry is unbelievable, just overthink everything these days x

@Monique007 oh ok I don't think my dates are off much maybe upto 5 days if anything as it was ivf I had so pretty much know exactly when conceived just depends when it implanted x

@Jsh125 thankyou! Will keep updated x
