Pregnancy after a MMC (aspiring and progesterone..?)

Hello. I had a MMC at 9 weeks in June. I just found out that I'm pregnant again. It's very early days, tested 5 days before my period and there's definitely a BFP. I don't know the reasons of my previous miscarriage and I'm obviously nervous about what's to come now. I'm also very happy though!! My private gynaecologist prescribed me with 75 mg of aspirin and also progesterone as a preventive measure. There's so much inconclusive information on the internet about taking those without being diagnosed with clotting etc. Have you been prescribed aspirin/progesterone after one miscarriage? What's your view?

Congratulations! I’ve had two previous miscarriages so know how hard it is and although you’re happy I also understand that you’ll be more nervous and more cautious. I was on progesterone but that was because I was doing ivf, it does no harm and is what your body naturally produces after ovulation, also the dose is not very high so shouldn’t be any concern. Sometimes a miscarriage can occur if you’re low on progesterone so worth taking just in case. I’m also on 75mg of aspirin, this can help the embryo implant but also stops pre eclampsia, again, no harm in taking it.

After 6 years of ivf I was willing to throw everything I could at it, the last round of ivf I decided to try blood thinning injections as well, even though tests showed I had no blood clotting disorder and I’m now sat here 37 weeks pregnant. Who knows if the blood thinners were the answer but I’m so glad I did them. These things will not harm you or baby and you only need to take them for first 3 months (except aspirin) if you’re offered these things without going through months of tests then I would do them, it can’t hurt 😊

@Colyflower Thank you so much for your response. Wow, it sounds like you have been through a very long but successful journey! Congratulations on your 37 weeks. Hope you're feeling okay. I was always told that pregnant women should not be taking any medication. Now I know this is about all the healthy pregnancies. I'm going to start taking both meds today and really hope that I'll be a happy mum in 8 months! Thank you again for taking the time to reply to my post.
