Anyone else suffering really bad lower back pain with SPD?

I’m seven months and really struggling. I’ve been diagnosed with SPD although I don’t seem to have pain at the front so much (do get it sometimes) it’s more down the inside of my thighs and lower back/hips as well as a kind of sciatic pain in my bum which I think is an extra fun bonus rather than part of the SPD.
I’m trying to stay mobile and active but walking really seems to set it off, after about ten to fifteen minutes or sometimes even less, I’m pretty much shuffling.
But then sitting down for long periods of time also seems to exacerbate it.
Has anyone found anything to help?
I’ve had a pregnancy massage which really helped but obviously didn’t last, I’m wondering about acupuncture...

I was diagnosed with SPD earlier in my pregnancy. I'd stopped moving and was resting up as much as possible as that's what I'd read, but I was actually ceasing up and making everything worse.

Luckily have private medical through work and as well as the deep tissue massage, below is the advice I was given by physio. My SPD (groin, lower back and buttock pain to the point I thought I was going to be on crutches or bed rest for my entire pregnancy) has completely resolved. If you did pay to see a physio privately mine charges £35 for 30 mins just to give you a ball park. I've been doing most of these tips religiously and now at 36 weeks am virtually pain free.

  1. apply heat to lower back, bottom and hips (nowhere near bump)
  2. Use tens machine same places (again, nowhere near bump)
  3. Do cat, cow and pigeon yoga positions (google or you tube)
  4. Pelvic floor exercises
  5. Sacroiliac Belt
  6. Bounce on pregnancy ball
  7. Massage bottom and hips (nowhere near bump). Can self massage using tennis ball on the wall
  8. Take small steps and move slowly
  9. Keep moving gently or it'll get worse
10. Swim gently 11. Warm baths 12. Sleep on side, pillow between knees 13. Keep knees together getting out of car and rolling over in bed 14. Sit down to get dressed.

@Bellasblankexpression I just looked it up and there's no evidence to prove it's safe so says to just avoid it. Oh god I'm a knob Blush

Thanks for sharing @Sleepinglemon I feel like I stiffen up if I don't move, but equally it bloody hurts when I walk! Thanks for the tip

@anitagreen if it makes you feel any better I had loads of Jakemans menthol sweets when I had a cold until the chemist told me I really shouldn't be as menthol can induce labour (I had no idea about this). It's easily done! There are so many things you just don't think to check. I'm sorry, as it sounds like it's working for you. Maybe you can double check with your GP/midwife as surely the teabags can't be too strong?
