I'm 27 weeks pregnant and I've been told at my scans from 20 weeks that my babies long bones are measuring around 3rd centile 2 weeks behind and that my baby could just be a small baby or could have Down syndrome or dwarfism and they offered me the amnio test but I don't want it, i can't stop stressing or being upset and worrying has anyone else had this before or heard of it that can give some advice? Thanks

Have a look at the blood test you can get (£450 ish in UK I believe) that tests babies blood cells from your blood. They might be an option for you?

They never mentioned that test to me they just mentioned about the amnio, do you know what the test is called please?

Yes do the blood test! It's been on the news few months ago it's available in Scotland and Wales on the NHS but not in England, it's supposed to be coming soon I believe. I agree with you I wouldnt have amnio either unless I really really had to x

There are several different brand names for the test being referred to here. They are all NIPT tests. Mine was called Harmony.

It will screen more accurately than the NT/Combined Test at 12 weeks or the Quadruple Test at 15 weeks for Downs, Turners and another one. It isn't conclusive tho - for that you'd still need an amniocentesis or CVS.

My consultant said basically if the NIPT gives a negative result you can believe it. If it gives a positive result, then consider amnio/CVS.

Good luck OP. It sounds very tough Thanks

You have to have them done privately in most places. It costs about £400. A lot of mother care stores do it. Google NIPT test in your area
