Severe back pain?

I'm 14 weeks tomorrow and my god, I've never had such severe pain in my hips, pelvis and lower back. If I'm lying in bed and I sneeze, I feel like I've snapped my bones! I can't roll over in bed comfortably, or even get off the sofa and I haven't even got a bump yet! Even when I'm just sat, my joints feel like they're aching and it's getting unbearable!

Any tips/advice/help to ease it before I ring my doctors and beg for drugs?

Could be PGP/SPD. I developed this at 10 weeks, have a look online and see if the symptoms fit, if they do speak to your midwife about a physio referral.

Sorry, first timer so I don't know what any of these acronyms mean...

Agree, contact midwife for physio referral. Do this sooner rather than later. I was in pain for weeks the when I saw physio she said my muscles had switched off. She massaged them, which was incredibly painful, then the pain dissipated and I could walk again without pain. Also will give you exercises to strengthen muscles in prep for when you get heavier and to help the birthing process.

Sorry PGP - pelvic girdle pain. SPD - Symphysis pubis dysfunction. They're the same thing with different names. My midwife tried to fob me off that it was normal pregnancy pain. My logic was that if ever pregnant woman was in this much pain it would have been mentioned. This is my first too but I had to push a little. It was a great help though, I've had manual therapy twice which helped and I have crutches although at 36 weeks they can't work miracles and it does hurt.

Thanks ladies - I've just left a message for my midwife. Honestly, the pain is unbearable. I sneezed in bed this morning and thought my back had snapped Grin even when not moving it's sore. It's like when you have a cold and all of your joints just feel cold and ache, it's like that all around my hips/pelvis and lower back!! Fingers crossed the midwife can sort me out!

Could be the start of PGP.

Sadly there is no cure apart from child birth. Mine started at 25 ish weeks and I've been signed off work as it is agony and I can barely do anything for myself.

I am waiting to speak with occupational therapy although I'm not quiet sure what they can do as I can't even walk to the end of my street without hobbling in pain!

Sleeping is almost impossible now I have a big bump too. The pain in my pelvis and hips is almost unbearable. I walk hunched over most of the time as I feel like my pubic bone is going to split if I stand up straight.

I've had physio etc but nothing has helped. I really hope you don't have PGP for your sake! X

@anonnancy it sucks. I had to start my mat leave much earlier than I wanted to because I ran out of sick pay. I didn't find there was much sympathy from work as "it's part of pregnancy" my ass. I found crutches the most helpful as they let me stay mobile(ish) that extra few weeks that I wouldn't have had but that's long behind me. I'd never heard of PGP until I developed it but it's what's made me decide I'll only have one child.
