Hello everyone, looking for suggestions and ideas.

I've just had my first baby, an adorable little girl. I live in the UK but my parents live on the other side of the world and due to their health can't visit. My husband and I are visiting next year when she is 5 months.

I know my parents are gutted to miss out in their first grandchild as a little baby. I want to send them a box of memories now to help them feel close to her - things in the box already are photos, one of the onsies she wore in hospital, ink footprints .... And I can't think of anything else.

Any suggestions of that I can include? Has anyone else done something similar?

Thanks in advance, really appreciate it xx

What a lovely idea. The best thing you can do though is Skype/FaceTime regularly. This didn't exist when my eldest was born but by the time my second was born this made my mum so happy ... she could see her. If you need flight tips message me, my kids had clocked up 100k flying miles by 5

Ink free or daly dough hand and foot prints?

@stucknoue thanks for the tip offer, I'll get in touch. We Skype every few days and always have, it's amazing isn't it. Must have been so hard being away pre Skype. They love seeing her, but I want them to feel how little she is too.

@Whatelsecouldibecalled oh little dough hands are a great idea!! Forgot about them 😊😊 thanks

What a lovely idea. How about a little baby book so they can read to her over FaceTime?

This is such a lovely idea! My husband’s parents live the other side of the world and I was trying to think how to make them feel more involved as it’s their first grandchild as well. Love the idea of a baby book in the box as well!

Make a photo book with a photo of her every Monday or whatever. You can really see how she changes.

My mum had one called Grandma's boasting book that she kept in her handbag to show friends Grin

Wow great ideas, a photo book of each week is a great idea, I've taken photos each day and sent them but a printed version is a lovely addition!

Aww a baby book is a sweet idea for bedtime Skypes, my mum would love that!!

My brother and his partner were in a similar position with their first. They set up a private blog (one with a password) and put photos for about the first two years!
