Hi ladies

So I'm 34 weeks and today I was sent to triage by my community midwife as she was feeling constant tightenings of my bump when she was examining me.

I went in reluctantly and was hooked up to the monitor which picked up I was tightening every few minutes, they weren't what you would call painful but definitely uncomfortable and I've had period like aching for the past 2 days. I've also lost my plug a few days ago ( by the way this is baby no 2),

I had the same thing happen at 35 weeks with DS1 and had a positive swab although cervix closed, was admitted given steroids and loan behold he was born less than 2 weeks later at 37+1.

Today I got a young male doctor

Sorry is this finished or did you kiss the ending off? C

ameliathomas84 · 31/10/2019 22:57

Miss even! God this phone drives me insane haha

Shaunieh95 · 31/10/2019 22:59

Sorry I clicked post by accident.

Anyway... today i got a young male doctor (Pretty sure wasn't even my age and I'm 24) who took a quick look at my monitor report and said he'd have to do an internal and do an actum swab (positive if chance of labouring) however quickly examined me told me my cervix was closed never even bothered doing a swab and stood patronising me telling me what Braxton hicks are and that's what I've got (I know what Braxton hicks are and I wouldn't be in triage for them) he made me feel like an absolute idiot for even bothering going when I didn't want to in the first place.

Anyway fast forward a few hours still getting regular tightenings that are becoming more uncomfortable, back ache and now my boobs have also decided to just start leaking.

He's made me feel as though I shouldn't ring however actually uncomfortable and he clearly hasn't read my notes on my first pregnancy. I'm also high risk and have to have a section to due another medical issue which means under no circumstances can I have a natural delivery.

I just don't know what to do 😩

Phone and get checked over.
Forget about him and how he made you feel.
If you see him just ask to see someone else.
Sorry you felt patronised, but definitely give them a call and explain first pregnancy/labour

yikesanotherbooboo · 31/10/2019 23:04

Ring them, have the mindset that you are taking no chances with your baby and your health. You cannot worry about that young doctor. Ring the labour ward and explain .

Keha · 31/10/2019 23:04

I have no idea in terms of what is normal, this is my first pregnancy. But sounds like you are worried and if you've been through it before you probably have an idea what it feels like and should go with your instinct. I'd ring whoever is appropriate (maternity assessment?!) for a second opinion.

ameliathomas84 · 31/10/2019 23:07

Haha! I thought so :) I would deffo ring hun I've had nothing but problems and as I work at hospital I know what it's like having annoying ppl keep attending the department however I have to keep remembering that this is about the safety and health of your baby so don't worry what they think/say do the best for you both!
Deffo ring hun sounds like labour to me x

Blahblahblahnanana · 31/10/2019 23:09

Ring the labour ward and tell them that you’re having regular painful contractions and that you’re booked for a CS.

Re the doctor, did you tell him your history and you’re high risk and booked in for a CS?

Shaunieh95 · 31/10/2019 23:13

Thank you everyone I'm just having a bath for my back and I'm going to give them a call. I'm so mad I even feel like this I was in and out with my first constantly and was never ever made to feel patronised or like I was waisting time.

@Blahblahblahnanana yes made sure he was fully aware tbh I don't think he really gave a sh*t I came in whilst he was sat at the triage desk with a sandwich, probably disturbed his lunch seemed as if he couldn't even be bothered to be there

I’d not bother with the bath, it sounds as though you’re in early labour if they’re getting painful or you may have a UTI, so you need to be checked out ASAP.

Dip they dip your urine? Are you getting any burning and stinging when you wee?

Are you drinking plenty of fluids? (Dehydration can cause braxton hicks)

Blahblahblahnanana · 31/10/2019 23:21

*did they dip

Shaunieh95 · 31/10/2019 23:22

@Blahblahblahnanana I wouldn't say I'm in pain but I definitely am uncomfortable and have got aching, Yep Com. Midwife tested for uti and ketones both were fine no infection or dehydration x

They’ll want to check you out if you’re still having tightening. Take 1g of paracetamol to see if it eases it a bit and try a hot water bottle on your back, but def call them and get checked out.

Blahblahblahnanana · 31/10/2019 23:28

I’d take an overnight bag just in case they keep you in for observations too.
