Helppopo... Baby refusing bottle

Hello,

I'm desperately after some advice please...

My little girl is 9 weeks old and so far has been exclusively breastfed.

We are trying to get her to take a bottle as with December coming up I have a few nights where I will be out.

At 4 weeks old she took a 60ml bottle with no problem and twice since then my Husband has managed to get about 60ml into her with a bottle using my milk...

However in the last 2 weeks we have tried at least everyday to get her to have a bottle and she outright refuses it. She won't take a dummy either.
We have tried Mam, Nuk, Nuby bottles with no success. Originally she drunk from the Mam bottle but since has refused that too. She absolutely screams and gets so so upset and then it takes so long to calm her down again, and the only way we are managing to calm her is by giving in and giving her the boob.

Has anyone gone completely cold turkey and refused breast completely until they take the bottle and then reintroduce with both? I just don't know if I could let her get that upset and not step in 😢 I feel the meanest mummy in the world.

Any advice out there? Iv tried all the obvious things and everything Google has to offer. But really am starting to struggle with the thought of not being able to go out for a few hours over Christmas.

Thanks x

Hi. Mine were both bottle refusers too. I really did try everything- warm/cold breastmilk, different bottles, different teats, different people feeding them, me in the house, me out of house etc etc.
We eventually had success with cups with them both but I think that was more like 16weeks that they really started taking enough from a cup for me to leave them. We used the munchkin miracle 360 cup or just normal open top cup. I think medela make a specific cup for feeding preemie babies/ newborns who can't latch so that might be worth looking into.
Hope that's of some help.
Congratulations on your new baby!

I've heard that tommee tippee are the closest to a nipple shape and are the best for expressing. Could try one of those?

Hi, there are a few Facebook groups on breastfeeding where you might get success stories and tips (in addition to here) if you post...
I know some people advocate drinking from a cup for breastfed babies but have no personal experience!
