This sounds ridiculous I know, but I have been signed off work the past few weeks and it is looking like I have another month to go before my next review, if I make it back to work at all. I have run out of things to do and am feeling abit down in the dumps and isolated tbh. I am 29 weeks. I have washed the baby's clothes and have done the batch cooking. DH is decorating the baby's room at the weekend as I am not really able to help there. Dc1 is it nursery for half the week, the rest with me which I fill with DH, GParents etc for the help thankfully as I cannot run around with him much anymore.

Any suggestions what i can do which would be beneficial in my 'free' few days? Binging on TV has been nice but it's ran its course.

Nap and binge watch Netflix?
There's an app called mush for mums to meet others, chatting on there finding some one locally could help? Even if it's just goo for a stroll
Some of my really good mum friends I met on there

I feel for you, I was signed off from 32 weeks and pretty much on bed rest, never been more bored in my life. I just watched netflix and read a lot of books, in between that I napped. No help to you really, I did think about starting a new hobby like learning to crochet or do the chunky knitting, but never got round to actually doing it.

Hope you find something :)

Do an online study course?

Doing nothing is the best! Netflix and nothing 😂

Sort out your photos. Everybody has thousands of photos all just dumped in a digital file.
Clear out the duff ones. And properly file them.

Sunshinegirl82 · 31/10/2019 08:46

Organise and declutter. Go through every drawer and cupboard and chuck away stuff you don't need. Organise what is left. Go through and organise/file all your paperwork.

Sort through DC1's toys and sell/get rid of anything you don't need.

Go through everyone's wardrobes and the airing cupboard and donate things that are no longer worn to charity etc.

Your house will feel amazing when you're done and you'll never have time once DC2 arrives!

Batch cook dinners and put them in the freezer.

I like the idea about organising the photos as well. You will never have time to do that again.

Recommend doing a children's first aid course if you can - I did one just before starting MAT leave with DD - That was really useful on a couple of occasions with both DD and other people's children - Including helping a neighbor in the immediate aftermath of their 8month DGS having a febrile seizure and managing to clear a properly choking child's airway at soft play!

Make something. If you get some flatpack furniture and tools you can "reform" it into new inventions of your own. If you can sew or have a machine you can refresh curtains, linen, make lovely things for baby.

There might also be something local you can volunteer at that is low effort/stress, so have a look in your area.

I recommend taking up crochet - you can get nice beginner sets from Toft UK to make your baby a little cuddly toy. I started in April and do it a lot - really occupies your mind and your hands!

Depends why you were signed off... are you meant to be on bed rest or are you allowed walk/go out... or are you in too much pain to walk?

Justasconfusedwithnumber2 · 31/10/2019 11:10

Thanks for all your suggestions. I may give Crochet a go!

I have been off for breathing difficulties so can go out but not over exert myself
