Housework and bending during pregnancy

Hi all,

I just wanted to ask as I keep worrying now about it whether doing housework and bending and squat to collect stuff from the floor, hover and mop does hurt the baby and the water around the baby in any way. I am half way through pregnancy and even though people still don't notice I am pregnant I feel like a balloon and I am struggling sometimes and I need to do things slow and with breaks. My boyfriend helps a lot but he is a man and there are things which he doesn't do the way I want them done so I do them myself.

After housework I normally feel somewhat pressure in my belly and I want to rest. Normally I am better after an hour nap but I keep worrying if I hurt the baby while doing stuff around the house.

Thank you for reading.

No it's not going to hurt the baby but watch you dont move in a way that hurts you

Many expectant mothers work out in the gym up to full term.
Staying active will only help you and your baby.

Op I'm exactly sxtly the same 19 weeks pregnant and can't do it all in 1 go so I've started to do upstairs on a Thursday and downstairs on a Friday and of course my day to day bits too. I found this helps rather than 2 hours of none stop cleaning

The movement won't hurt baby. Listen to your body and rest when you need to. Be aware of harmful cleaning products. Try to bend at the knee and not the back - this is more for you than baby.

I'm 8 months and still doing all the housework, washing etc. I'm tired and it is more difficult (hurts my back etc) but I just take my time and rest when necessary.

Interestingly (to me anyway!) my midwife mentioned at my last appointment that doing housework and keeping active helps the baby move into the best position for birth e.g. head down and spine towards your tummy rather than back to back. For this very reason I'm continuing to ensure baby stays in place ready to drop! Just take care of yourself and listen to your body. If it says stop, then stop.

No, don't worry. I'm 8 months pregnant with twins and trying to sell my house, so doing more housework than usual to keep it presentable for viewings (especially since I don't expect to be able to continue that after the birth!), but the babies are doing just fine. Just be wary of chemicals and don't over-do the physical exertion (not just cleaning!)

It won't hurt the baby. My ante natal physio told us to stop bending, crouching and lifting because it's bad for your back and pelvic floor and hips etc, but it won't actually harm the baby. In my case I have a toddler and a four year old already, plus a job, pets, and a house to run, so that sort of advice isn't exactly realistic. I just try not to overdo it on the lifting but my enormous two year old doesn't always go along with that!
