Hi everyone. My first post on here and looking to connect with other first time mum's. I'm 40 and expecting my first. Just over 11 weeks gone. How is everyone doing?

Hello @Firstbaby2019x I'm 38 and this is our first. Still early though, 5+4

Exciting!

Firstbaby2019x · 26/10/2019 16:46

Hi @NotMaryWhitehouse Yes it is! How are you feeling so far?

36 and 27+3 with first

Firstbaby2019x · 29/10/2019 12:45

@Felinewoman How has it been for you? Still early days here. Bloating and indigestion seems to be my biggest symptom so far. Could be a lot worse!

@Firstbaby2019x just knackered until today! This afternoon I feel a bit woozy and sick, which is actually ok with (at the moment!) as up to now I hadn't really 'felt ' pregnant.

Because I am a panicker, I have booked an early scan for Thursday, when I will be 6+2. I know there is a high chance there won't even be a heart beat yet, but just seeing SOMETHING there will feel like a bit of a relief.

Honestly, I was so focused on actually getting pregnant, it hadn't occurred to me that I would be constantly freaking out 😬

I have had a little old blood when wiping over the last couple of days, but today that has stopped as have my cramps, as the nausea has started so I'm feeling marginally more hopeful!

Hope you are doing ok!

Firstbaby2019x · 29/10/2019 15:34

@marywhitehouse I was exactly the same at your point. Tiredness hit me like a train for a few weeks. But passed for me around week 10/11 so fingers crossed for you.

I think freaking out is all part of it! It's a big thing to get your head around but hopefully you've got a supportive partner who can support. Day by day I try and go with but it's sometimes easier said than done!

How are you feeling about peer groups? A lot of my friends had their babies in late twenties/early thirties so I am a bit anxious about other new mums and I'll struggle to mix with them as I'm older. I'm hoping that's not the case but something that's been on my mind.

Well, most have my friends had their babies 30+, and in fact, but she lived in a nice bit of London and when she had her first at 36, she was the youngest one in her NCT group! I think a local friend is TTC at the moment, so hopefully I won't be too out of the loop.
Whereabouts is j the country are you (feel free to be vague!)

You must be feeling excited to be approaching the 12 week mark.

My OH is the best, so supportive and attentive, I'm very lucky.

@Firstbaby2019x I am feeling fine actually. The first 16 weeks or so were the hardest. I just felt sick and tired all the time. I am a mature student and sat my finals while 13 weeks pregnant... That was rather stressful haha.
Second trimester is definitely better.
Now I entered the third trimester and definitely feeling a bit more tired and out of breath easily. Can't wait to see the little parasite :-)

Hello! 36 year old first time mum here, 15+3, baby is due a month before my 37th bday.
Was expecting TTC to last a whole lot longer so count my blessings daily.
Tiredness has been shocking, asleep by 8pm on the sofa every night! DH is ok with it as he can catch up on sport/movies.
I'm the oldest of all my friends when it comes to first pregnancy so great to be able to ask for advice but getting a little fed up of the "just wait til baby is here" comments.
In an ideal world I'd have been doing this a few years ago but I've travelled, I've lived abroad, I've had lots of fun and more importantly met the love of my life and the only man I could imagine as the father of my children!
Wishing you all super healthy and happy pregnancies Smile

Felinewoman · 29/10/2019 19:25

@aprilshowers2015 the comments just get worse. I hate being told. All the time how life will not be the same with baby and that it's cruel to fo to work after only 6.months etc. etc. Also, people want to touch my tummy all the time. It feels like I'm public property.
I have caught an exquisite bug though and I sound like I contracted TB... Not so. Much touching at the moment Grin

Felinewoman · 29/10/2019 19:28

Sorry about typos... It's my phone

aprilshowers2015 · 29/10/2019 19:31

@felinewoman oh gosh I hope no one random tries to touch mine! Not sure what I'd do!
Thought I felt a little something earlier, more of a "pop" than the flutter I've been expecting Smile
I'm self employed and work pt from home so DH is taking 6m leave (Civil Servant) so hopefully we can muddle through together!

Felinewoman · 29/10/2019 19:47

Popping and rolling were the first things I felt which I think was baby :-) started at around 16 weeks.

thatvegangirl · 29/10/2019 20:08

Hi everyone and congratulations!

I'm 36 (my baby will be born when I'm 37) 4+2, I've only just found out that I'm pregnant - first cycle TTC - I'm absolutely delighted but very much in shock as I was convinced it would take a lot longer. Very early days, but very excited and also very very tired.
