I was hoping I could get some positive stories/outcomes of ladies who have had a cervix Cerclage in the past, I am very nervous and anxious as you would be as it was a hard decision to make... my cervix is at 28mm and I still have a good cervix length and was given the option to go back for another cervix scan in two weeks or get the Cerclage done, as my previous DS was born at 26 weeks I know I have a history of ore term labour now and really didn't want to take the risk of not doing everything possible to get to term with this pregnancy. I would appreciate any advice from ladies who have gone through something similar, what to expect and how to continue life as normal as possible after with a 1 and half year old.

I had mine today. Almost 22 weeks and was at 1.3cm and starting to dilate! Totally shocked! Wondering how you are doing. Having a baby on top must be so hard. I have a 4 year old so no holding isnt a problem. I feel for you. Hope all is ok!

Hi drpaintermum, hope you are doing well, that must have been so scary, I am doing well, stitches are holding up well with the progesterone treatment, trying to take it easy and not over do it. How are you feeling? It's definitely not a nice situation to be in but I'm happy we are able to have treatment done before it's to late. Wishing you the best of health, feel free to message me for any advice or updates, nice to speak to someone who is in the same boat

Glad things are going ok so far! How far along are you? I have been trying not to walk too much. Just a bit of discharge but nothing concerning. I felt so overwhelmed afterwards though, crying randomly. I just so wanted to find someone who had a similar experience. Its so nice to talk to you. Have you picked up your baby at all? I am almost terrified to do anything - but its only been 24 hours Smile

drpaintermum happy to hear gig are recovering well, first few days/week you need to take it easy, don't do to much walking and no heavy lifting at all, let your body heal and when you feel you are ready to do what you can then most likely you are ready, but don't over do it. I stayed in bed for the first two days and I'm not lifting my toddler much at all, he is waking around so I only really need to lift him to put him in hug high chair or to carry him down the stairs, I do that once a day which is fine but even then I get worried. I am 24 weeks now so want to get to a safe place before I start doing things that are going to be to much for me to handle. How many weeks are you now? You have a toddler too? Also are you taking the progesterone pessarys? I am taking the progesterone every night before bed. x

Sunshine3105 so nice to hear that your cerclage was successful and you are having a successful pregnancy. Do you have any tips you can give us on what we should and shouldn't be doing? Anything you found useful that we should knew? Have you been booked in for the stitch removal at 37 weeks? I know that's not something I'm looking forward to but would be nice to hear about your experience when you have it done. Best of luck, not long to go now Smile

drpaintermum sorry you said you had a 4 year old and that you was 22 weeks, try and take it easy and I hope you have the support and help around you so you can relax and take it easy for a while. At least we know we have done what is necessary to ensure our little bubs can stay inside as long as possible and be healthy and happy baby's Smile

Salina2 i would say just take it easy first couple of days.....after that just carry on as normal....i work as nanny with 20month old one so not easy....just 5 weeks till my maternity leave now if everything goes well.....they said they will book me in for removal of the stitch at my 36 week midwife appoitment.....i will let you know how was it....but from what i hear is much easier done....good luck all of you ladies

Drpaintermum · 16/11/2019 01:06

Sunshine3105: that is awesome you have made it so far! I too worry about the removal after the nurse told me the stitch was as big as a shoelace!! Shock

Salina2: Thank you for the advise! I have mostly stayed in bed today also. Took my first progesterone today before a nap. Feeling on top of things! Asking for more help. Guess doing everything I need to do for baby, not just for me. Friends and family have been supportive. I am quite lucky.

Sunshine 3105- Hope you are well, Wow you work as a nanny, my son is almost 20 months, how do you cope? I'm still so scared to do to much just in case it affects my stitches etc... what advice can you give me in terms of household chores, I have support which is great but sometimes feel a bit useless. I am 25 weeks so still have a while to go.
