I think I might be pregnant I haven’t tested yet as I want to wait a few more days incase my period is just late. The thing that’s on my mind right now is that I’m in the middle of a serious weight loss/fitness regime I’ve lost 2 stone and still have around 15 lbs to go to get back to my healthy weight. I’m concerned about any risks with the pregnancy being slightly overweight this time as I know I will have to stop my routine. (I was size 6 with my other children and bounced back straight away but a size 12/14 right now). I know it’s not a huge issue in the bigger scheme and I might not even be pregnant but I’m looking for advice from any ladies who were in this situation and if their pregnancy was ok? Is it safe to continue but less extreme? Will it be harder to lose the weight after the birth if I’m already a bit heavier before? Thanks

There's plenty of pregnant women on here bugger than a size 12 I'm sure you'll be ok

And you can still continue exercising during pregnancy as long as you're not doing contact sports

My BMI went up to 30 by January of this year, at which point I lost about a stone and wanted to lose another two. However the weight loss seemed to kick my fertility into gear as I got pregnant in March!

I started pregnancy with BMI of 28 and so far, at 33 weeks, have only put on the weight I lost so I'm now the weight I was in January but some of it's baby, not flab!

No one has commented on my weight so far or suggested I'm higher risk than I would be if I'd started from an ideal BMI. I know that women with a BMI up to 40 are allowed to give birth in our midwife led unit.

At my last midwife appointment she did umm and ahhh about giving me a fasting glucose test, which you do need to do if you have a BMI of 30 or over at the start of pregnancy. But she checked with another midwife and decided against it, especially since I haven't had excess sugar in my urine so far.

I was told by the midwife that I could continue with exercise as long as I felt comfortable. My personal trainer said I could increase weights/endurance as usual in the first trimester, just no ridiculous personal best attempts etc. In the second trimester she said to stop increasing and in the third trimester she said slow down. I'm now down to just gentle yoga, walking when my hips aren't killing me, and very occasional swimming...

Thanks ladies it’s been a long time since I had my youngest and I’m worried about damaging the baby (if there is one) nhs advice seems to have changed a lot since then!
